I've have two characters that are on level 20 and they both took me around 30-40 hours to get to that level....maybe I am just slow.

Just have some good level 20 buddies power you to Ascension.

I had a guy invite my alt monk to his guild...he said he had an alt that was a level 33 mesmer.

Don't have any 20s yet, but I know people that do it.

I'm fairly sure your mirror is always lvl 20. You just have to use cheeky tactics with what you put on your skills bar.

For example if your a Ranger, load it up with Nature Rituals which they'll cast (5 second cast each :) ) and benefit you too, and while they're doing that just pump them full of Point Blank Shot etc...

And don't take healing either generally, cause they'll use it too.

Edit: I agree with jmole. Also I've noticed these lowbies who'll join a group for missions when they're lvl 4 (and everyone else is lvl 10+), play for 5 seconds then hide, so they get to the next area without having to do anything!! Don't let these people join your group!!!

What is the fun of the game if you have people run through all the areas for you and completing the missions. I have 100 members in my guild and we don't do that because the other members would never learn how the game works if they don't find out the hard way. Plus they would suck in GvG and HoH fights without the experience of getting through the game.
what kind of skills do you have at level 6. :\

If you've been rushed to Ascension, you'll have been past most Skill trainers, so any non-elite's fairly easy to come by.

Edit: but I do NOT suggest rushing to Ascension if it's your first character!

yea not my first char. 2nd.

so im suppose to buy skills before i fight mirror? or isnt there a way jus past him??

anyways going to fight mirror im lvl 6 with 100hp :\

doubt skills will have any effect? i die anyways

People have done it at lvl 4. Hit points isn't the point- if they're busy casting stuff while you're killing them, they should be near dead before they start attacking you. Or you give em skills that you know won't have any effect on you, like- there's an Ele skill which makes the enemy move slower, but gives them immunity to everything except lightning for up to 15 seconds. If you don't give him Air magic, then you're laughing :)....

No there isn't any other way past him :)

If you think you'll die just spend a few more hours and actually level up.

By the way, I know I need to kill certain mobs for elite skills, but do they come as a drop, or is there something special I have to do?  (I've got no elite skills yet).

You get elite skills by finding the "boss" monsters and using signets of capture on them when they're using that skill. That's the only way to get them.

New Updates are coming.

Check them out here:

Increased reward for quest "The Villainy of Galrath" from 500 XP to 4000 XP.

If I knew they were making that change, I would have waited..That quest was far from easier and worth more then a mesly 500xp.

That "running back to the mobs that wiped us going straight through mountains" business was annoying. Also, did you see that now it's easier to use the Signet of Capture? Just bought two last night and I'm determined to go find some Mesmer and Monk mobs.

And the "Villainy" quest in Black Curtain (or dark curtain?) is worth 4,000 xp. my wife and I are gathering a group for it tonight.

When are they likely to increase the level limit?

probably with the release of expansions, alot of online rpg's will up the level cap along with adding content when making expansions, so that players that are already at the end of the game (basically) and at the level cap, will have something to move onto instead of having to do lower level stuff

There is nothing wrong with the level cap. Raising it would just defeat the whole purpose of the game, which is focusing more on skills and how you use them rather then who has the highlest level character and how they can rape lower level characters.

In regards to the recent game update, those rune and rare materials traders are clutch. Now we don't have to pay over inflated prices for items. The only thing I think the game needs now is auction house.

Hmm... hopefully collectors edition buyers will get some benefit again with expansion stuff... and I'm really hoping they won't price it too high... they should make it free :p

I agree, I just hit lvl 20 but still in the Wilds Zone, I am evolving my stragety (switched from pure fire mage to actually chosing choice Me skills as part of my sub) to meet the the challanges of >lvl 20 creatures, work on upgrading equipment / armor and farming for resouces for money / future armor upgrades. This forces people to play smarter and if you don't evolve go online and read up on class combo's and skill choices.

    • If you have a TV in your living room, chances are you can probably just use the Steam Link app and play your huge PC in big picture mode, effectively giving you the Steam Machine experience to see if you'd actually like it. The good news is the Steam Machine can have it's drives upgraded. It has a USB-C 10Gbs port as well, so the 512GB drive could be quickly moved to an external enclosure and repurposed.
    • This machine could very well be a second gaming PC for their living room as a console experience. So we would have to assume their main PC exists as well; With that said, I have 10gb home network with a 2.5gigabit internet connection here so we tend to have more than enough speed to download games. However, we can't make use of the 10gb LAN using Steam's built in transfer tool because it always compresses transfers and that slows the transfer down to well below a standard gigabit port speeds, sometimes as slow as 200-300Mb/s transfers. While that's probably still faster than most internet connections anyway, if they'd fix the LAN transfer issue it'd be upto x5 faster even on a gigabit LAN, than simply dropping a 2.5gbe port on there with hopes of a few people having fast internet connections. There are solutions, work arounds, like using LANCache if you run a NAS... or simply copying the files over manually using a network share.
    • Samsung announces ultra-fast UFS 5.0 storage to supercharge mobile AI by Paul Hill Local AI models tend to run a lot more slowly than cloud services like Claude and Gemini; however, Samsung has just announced that it has developed its UFS 5.0 solution, which increases data transfer to speeds of 10.8GB/s, enabling faster storage and processing in mobile memory that has the potential to provide more optimal local AI experiences. Commenting on this development, Jangseok Choi, head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, said: If you’ve tried local AI, you’ll know it can be quite slow, especially if using the larger parameter models. By developing this new solution, Samsung says that storage is evolving from just storing data to a core piece of infrastructure that supports AI computation, too. The Korean company said that UFS 5.0 integrates the latest embedded memory interface standard from JEDEC and achieves up to 10.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s) transfer speeds. Regarding write speeds, Samsung UFS 5.0 can reach 9.5 GB/s. Both the read and write speeds are twice as fast as those of the previous UFS 4.1 standard. Aside from being ideal for local AI, Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is more power efficient by 40% compared to UFS 4.1. Samsung achieved this by implementing innovations such as clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. UFS 5.0 is also ultra-compact at just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm; that is 16.7% smaller than UFS 4.1. The company said it will be bringing it to multiple devices in the future, including mobile, wearable, and extended reality.
    • A bit like the steamdeck, this probably isn't for you.
    • Gamers Nexus already did their review, and building your own will be faster and cheaper, so not very convincing.
