Any tips for me and CoolerUk on starting our guild?

Not done any Pvp really, and would like to start.

We have guild+cape+hall etc.

Just need members. But then we're not really sure what to do... :)

Cheers, lol.

Get some more members so you're eight men and then build a nice team, like 3 monks, 2 AoE dmg dealers, 1 warrior, 1 necro, 1 mesmer (make your own build). Then do some runs in the Tombs to get a feel of PVP and then do finally GvGs :D

Good luck!

I just bought this game...looking for tips on character creation?

Any classes I should stay away from?

I generally like caster classes, priest or mage type guys, any suggestions?

Thanks :)

Rangers and necros seem to be the least desirable of primary classes (from what I've seen) in groups; they make better secondaries. If you want to be a bow user, you can be just as good with a bow without taking ranger as a primary.

Mesmers are great PvPers, and awesome for shutting down enemy monks/casters in RP or PvP.

There are a jillion warriors, most of which are Warrior/Monks. Good soloing class (as is Monk/Warrior with the right build), but there's never a shortage.

If you want to be a bow user, you can be just as good with a bow without taking ranger as a primary.

Just to clear this up- you will be much better with a bow if you're a Ranger primary, as all the skills are cheaper with Expertise (Ranger-only attribute) so you can pump out special bow-shots near-continuously. And don't neglect the Necros either!

Ok, so I havn't played in months..Almost 4..

I log on and its changed so much in player dynamics...Less people are actually doing the missions properly and are now paying people to do missions for them, same with hired runners to get you places..

Is it just me or have people seriously, just made the games worse. No one tries anymore..Its all about getting ascended quick with little effort..Maybe its just me, maybe I'm tired..

Lets hope the Guild Wars I came to love doesn't end up ruined..

The people paying folks to do their missions are usually the ones that got bored with doing it themselves (they're on their 4th level 20 or something).

And you're right, it could ruin the game.

Here's my idea: they need to give you a chance to transfer all your XP to a new character, then just go buy your new skills or capture them (transfer price being, say, 15-20 plat). I think it would save people boredom, and would siphon money out of the economy instead of giving it back to players that hoard it, which would have a positive effect on the game, driving down ridiculous prices.

Yes there are many runners for hire nowadays, most peeps who pay for them just want to rush their char and get all the skills&elites as quick as possible, like me, i dont mind paying them 250g ? 500g for a small run or 2k for a droknars run, i got enough money for that. As of now i?m rushing my ele and ranger real quick for pvp/hoh/gvg, dont wanna play most of the mission over while i have finished it with my warrior and monk.

Most people i meet help me for free and take things slow to show me everything i'm now level 11 and this completly random guy i met gave me an icy war hammer of enchanting 17-32 purple max damge weapon for free it gives me 14% longer enchantsment as well it rocks out louad this is how it went.

Me: Hey nice armour

guy: thanks

Me: where you get it?

guy: this dunegeon place (i can't remember what it was)

Me: will you help me out

guy: sure what mission

Me: ruins of surmia

guy: ok lets go

(in mission)

me: i could do with a better hammer

guy: i'll get you a max dmg one

me: thanks man your the best

and then he traded me the hammer and i try to stay away from people who want you to pay them and is there any news of an update so like you can get to level 40 and do some more quest or whatever because level 20 is a little low

Monks definitely have the best healing ability with divine favor (which adds 3x whatever rank you set it to; e.g. 6 Divine Favor = +18 healing every spell cast on an ally), and they have a spammable elite skill--Word of Healing--that heals for tons. If you wanted to be a good alternate healer, it would probably be best to pick a mesmer (for speed) or Elementalist (for a deep energy well).

There probably won't be an update to up to the maximum level cap any time soon simply because it would mess up PvP. Developers have already said that the Chapter 2 expansion will still keep the current level cap because of that. If one person can get to level 40 and one person can only be level 20 because they didn't purchase the expansion, it isn't really fair. That expansion is rumored to be out the first half of 2006, so an update AFTER that is possible.

Funny how you both have "max damage" hammers, yet both have different damage. Max damage for hammers is actually 19-35...

    • If you have a TV in your living room, chances are you can probably just use the Steam Link app and play your huge PC in big picture mode, effectively giving you the Steam Machine experience to see if you'd actually like it. The good news is the Steam Machine can have it's drives upgraded. It has a USB-C 10Gbs port as well, so the 512GB drive could be quickly moved to an external enclosure and repurposed.
    • This machine could very well be a second gaming PC for their living room as a console experience. So we would have to assume their main PC exists as well; With that said, I have 10gb home network with a 2.5gigabit internet connection here so we tend to have more than enough speed to download games. However, we can't make use of the 10gb LAN using Steam's built in transfer tool because it always compresses transfers and that slows the transfer down to well below a standard gigabit port speeds, sometimes as slow as 200-300Mb/s transfers. While that's probably still faster than most internet connections anyway, if they'd fix the LAN transfer issue it'd be upto x5 faster even on a gigabit LAN, than simply dropping a 2.5gbe port on there with hopes of a few people having fast internet connections. There are solutions, work arounds, like using LANCache if you run a NAS... or simply copying the files over manually using a network share.
    • Samsung announces ultra-fast UFS 5.0 storage to supercharge mobile AI by Paul Hill Local AI models tend to run a lot more slowly than cloud services like Claude and Gemini; however, Samsung has just announced that it has developed its UFS 5.0 solution, which increases data transfer to speeds of 10.8GB/s, enabling faster storage and processing in mobile memory that has the potential to provide more optimal local AI experiences. Commenting on this development, Jangseok Choi, head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, said: If you’ve tried local AI, you’ll know it can be quite slow, especially if using the larger parameter models. By developing this new solution, Samsung says that storage is evolving from just storing data to a core piece of infrastructure that supports AI computation, too. The Korean company said that UFS 5.0 integrates the latest embedded memory interface standard from JEDEC and achieves up to 10.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s) transfer speeds. Regarding write speeds, Samsung UFS 5.0 can reach 9.5 GB/s. Both the read and write speeds are twice as fast as those of the previous UFS 4.1 standard. Aside from being ideal for local AI, Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is more power efficient by 40% compared to UFS 4.1. Samsung achieved this by implementing innovations such as clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. UFS 5.0 is also ultra-compact at just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm; that is 16.7% smaller than UFS 4.1. The company said it will be bringing it to multiple devices in the future, including mobile, wearable, and extended reality.
    • A bit like the steamdeck, this probably isn't for you.
    • Gamers Nexus already did their review, and building your own will be faster and cheaper, so not very convincing.
