[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

The downloadable 20+ years of content will sell that revolution like no others, but how exactly are they going to offer the controllers for all those old consoles?  The 64 controller was rather unique, as is the gamecube one.  Oh well... wait and see, I suppose.

wait... any of you think the wireless controller already for gamecube could work on it?

Maybe they will come out with abuncha cheap oldschool wireless controllers

I agree with you, i do actually prefer a lot of 1st party nintendo games to most of the tosh that big companies like EA churn out year after year, but Nintendo has consistently been the underacheiver every console launch and its getting tiring that they are sticking to their less is more approach, people look at the x360/ps3 and see amazing graphics compared to the poor old revolution and dont actually give it a look in which in turn makes more developers and publishers turn away from it.

585934080

what are you even talking about "poor old revolution" the specs have not even been released yet, christ

and you are talking about develpoers, they said it was the easiest and most cost effective to develope for...

it must be hard being a corperation ###### isn't it

i guess i am a casual gamer, i get the 3 MUST HAVE games every year

besides Halo(s) what "must have" games have been on xbox? and i mean really must have, so don't give me splinter cells and games like that

585934065

Well, I think Ninja Gaiden is a must-have. But, that's personal preference...

Wait a minute

Microsot doesnt have the time frame to do such because they are already into production. Sony might copy it but then it would be a sore thumb on the PS3 like fish out of water. You can just borrow one "revolutionary" idea and incorporate it in your console when you dont have the games to utilise it.

585934053

Yes but if their controller is revolutionary, they could always be modified by MS and Sony and sold later. Somehow they are going to allow you to play four consoles worth of games. Might as well give Nintendo some time to be the first to have it.

That would be so sweet... there's really no feeling like playing Super Mario 3 on a real NES, but with a faux-NES controller, I could see it being very much the same. The only thing missing would be the 'Authentic NES Slowdown' in those really high-end NES games.

Go away you annoying little troll, if you actually read what id put youd see im not a "corporation ######" or biased in any way against any console. From what ive read and heared about the revolution its going to be another "less is more" approach.

Yes im talking about developers, not for the Revolution but for the Gamecube, Nintendos less is more approach turned away a lot of games players which in turn put off a lot of Developers who then pulled the plug on Gamecube in favour of the more popular platforms which in turn put a lot more gamers off.

right, serious hardcore awesome jones cola drinking gamers who have coperate sigs

585934130

Your beginning to get on my ###### now, i only have that in my sig because i think in the next generation of things xbox is for me and im showing my support.

will you please let it go ?

They didnt even give the price point of the GameBoy Micro.  :(

585934139

Hes been like this since earlier on, took something i said the wrong way and now is on some sort of quest to have a go at me, sad little child.

I hope they show some Revolution footage soon or im gonna lose interest :/

Exactly. I don't really get what Nintendo are trying to do. They do make the best 1st party games of anyone. Of course the games are THE most important thing about a console. But why do they always feel the need to be last on the tech side? In todays gaming market, kids just look at graphics. To them better graphics= more fun. WHy doesn't Nintendo make a console that is at least as good or close to as good as thier competitors, and then make their kick as games for it. Why always be 3rd on the tech front. Imagine what they could do with hardware like Xbox360 or PS3. Gameplay is the most important, but why cripple yourself in the graphics department by having a console so much less powerful than the others? Kids are just going to see the graphics of the other 2 and buy them over a Revolution, then Nintdendo is 3rd in sales again. Why?

i admit the prospect of being able to play old games on the system is appealing, but let's be honest most of us and most gamers with a computer have all the games from the NES, SNES, and N64 era on emulators.  why would they want to pay for those games again?

585934082

1. The majority of emulators always have glitches, aren't perfect, and some plain suck. Even some of the ripped ROMs have problems too.

2. Its hard to get a 2 player game going on your PC let alone a 4 player game for the N64.

3. Because it is illegal to have ROMs for games you don't own.

4. Being able to have a console with 5 systems in one if great. (NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Revolution). Some of us can get rid and sell our game collections. All my older consoles/games are taking up a crapload of space.

Good for them for not showing their controllers or whatever is going to make this system revolutionary.  Because if they did we would probably hear MS and Sony next week say "Hey, we have these brand new ideals for our consoles!"

VR headset people, VR headset. Just remember, Erich told you first.

How do you know they are crippling themselves graphically?! They didn't even release the damn specs for the cosnole.
what did reggie mean by his comment about the right brian?

585934126

Brian? Who's Brian? Hehehe.

Anyway, I think he said it to just keep the theme that Nintendo held throughout the show: the imagination is more important than displayed visuals. Gameplay, game experience, player immersion, etc. is all part of Nintendo's mission, they've always been like that. The guy that was talking about the Revolution said something about how he could tell us the numbers (specs) and other stuff about the Revolution but he wanted us to let our minds come up with what can be achieved.

Either that or something seriously interesting is going to be revealed later.

How so? The only time they could be considered last is if you compared DS to PSP and you dont even know what revolution will be capable of yet

Gamecube was more powerfull then PS2 little less powerfull then xbox but its cheaper and still pretty darn good

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
