How do you know they are crippling themselves graphically?!  They didn't even release the damn specs for the cosnole.

They said it would only be 3x more powerful than the Gamecube. The Xbox360 and PS3 are clearly much more powerful than that.

yeah....and Nintendo's never understated system power before... :rolleyes:

they always originally say their new system is less powerful than it actually is....

They have simply said, graphics aren't a concern, for all you know, they could be beating the ps3 and xbox360 specs wise, altho unlikely, it's all possible :p

its supposedly 2-3 times more powerful than the gamecube.... which is plenty imo.

xbox360 and ps3 are claming HUGE numbers in power, and they probably will be powerful. but they are also gonna eat it in manufacturing costs...sony is what, 80 billion in debt?

think about how cheap nintendo's console can be manufactured, think about how cheap it will be to buy....THATS how you get the console into every home.. offer a huge library of games extremely cheaply.

i think they hit the nail on the head.

Either that or something seriously interesting is going to be revealed later.

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. What they did seems like a teaser trailer for a movie. They won't show you much, but later they show you more with offical trailers and the finally you can see the whole damn movie.

Kids aren't going to care about price when mom and dad are paying. They just want the one that has the best graphics.

Did you ever think they could be being descrete and mean:

GameCube = 1 PowerPC

Revolutoin = 3x powerful x 1 PowerPC = PowerPC with 3 cores

They are using IBM and ATI just like the Xbox360 is using. I doubt they would tell either IBM/ATI to make a significantly less powerful console.

then the sega master system would have prevailed and gamegear...

the one leaked specs said it had quad cores...

But its most likely that parents would buy a cheaper console than one that costs close to $400. If its cheap, its also a pretty good gift. :whistle:

im a little fuzzy on the nintendo confrence, but from what i hear they didnt show any specs for the revolution, didnt show the controllers, showed a smaller version of the current GBA (which i feel is already small enough, and which also makes me believe that they wont show GBA2 at this years E3), were vauge about their wireless plans and tried not to emphasize graphics. Look I love Nintendo, if you dont believe me, look at my sig, but can someone -ANYONE here, pleasee explain to me what nintendo has to be excited about this year? Mario baseball!? Having to buy another version of the same gba hardware?

If you asked me if Nintendo doesnt show something truley revolutionary soon, they risk dropping the ball here and really dissapointing everyone and their customer base shrinks every year as kids grow up and younger kids become more tech savy and opt for more versatile hardware instead of bright colours ;)

As for the comment about the graphics,. I HOPE revolution is as powerful as the xbox or ps2 because i gotta tell this will haunt the Rev for its whole life. very early on any game that came out to ps2 and xbox were assumed to be better on the xbox and that was just a small difference in power, imagine a game coming out for xbox and ps3 and being majorly dumbed down just to run on revolution- I hope this isnt the case, but regardless of what nintendo says they can only float a console on their own software for so long.

Are you kidding me? Kids are spoiled brats these days. They get whatever they want.

its not a kids market. its an all ages market.

585934231[/snapback]

Yeah, but they are a siginifigant part of the market.

Profit doesn't mean much. These comanies don't care a whole lot about making money on the consoles at this point. They just want to have the most poular one. The numbers speak for themselves. Nintendo was 3rd in sales last round, ie: they lost.

It was a poor choice of words and I've already explained what I meant in subsequent posts. If you want to take it at face value, go ahead :rolleyes:

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
