[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

Here's the thing, the Revolution is not going to be release this year. There is no reason what-so-ever for them to give out any details or secrets they have that they don't want to share at this time. Chances are that both the Revolution and PS3 are both going to be at the E3 next year so that would be the opportune time for Nintendo to show all their cards. For instance, why give Sony a year in advance to counter what they have? Why reveal everything this year and then when next year rolls around they have nothing new to show just before they release the console?

I don't hear any of you complaining that Xbox360 didn't release anything last year at the E3 show, why, because they waited right until the last months before they are gonig to release their console, which is the smart thing to do. If they told you everything the Xbox360 had to offer a year ago, most of us would have forgotten by now or would not have been so excited by the time the release came around this year.

And for the last time NO SPECS WERE RELEASED, SO THERE IS NO REASON TO SAY THE REVOLUTION'S HARDWARE IS ALREADY INFERIOR TO THE PS3 AND XBOX360. I don't know why some of you keep insisting it is.

Agreed. But with Sony unveiling their PS3 and its specs in a very detailed manner, it wouldnt too far fetched if Nintendo did the same. But like you said, it might've cost them their "revolutionary" idea.

Its the way the Nintendo execs keep emphasizing the powerful consoles are not required logic, they did it not once but throughout the presentation. That is why it is almost understood that they wont be looking to match either of the competition. I for one would love if the Revolution surpassed both PS3 & Xbox 360.

Well if you look at Nintendo's past they are always completely random and sometimes don't make sense. Like releasing the realistic Zelda trailer at the SpaceWorld expo then at the next E3, boom, cell-shaded Zelda. Then I think it was last E3 out of nowhere comes the realistic looking Zelda. And now today the GameBoy mini, who would have expected that. Who knows, out of nowhere they could release specs for the Revolution. They always do stuff without any warning.

And like some people are suggesting on Slashdot, maybe they are reducing hardware specs and keeping the same architecture to give independent game developers a chance considering the costs of developing/producing a game are becoming insane. It would be like the NES\SNES era where there were so many game developers because it was affordable and not so difficult to make a game.

What they dont tell you is that each game will cost money, less is more, milking it for all its worth. Final nail in the coffin as far as im concerned i refuse to buy another Nintendo product as long as they are stubborn enough to sit in the dark ages and prattle on about being all for the games, all they do is take something and slap Mario name on it.

Whats next Mario Housework?

They made that one of the "selling points" but the revolutionary feature is still to be seen. So if that's just a selling point... well I think you guys all know what I think the revolutionary feature will be :p

you can view the presentation streamed off gamespot...

i think the revolution could easily match the power of xbox360. its being released later, it will be easier to get the tech in the box, and cheaper.

the gc was nearly as powerful as the xbox and look at the size difference there.

they EMPHASIZE games because thats what they are about. they are a publisher, developer, and ALSO console designers. just because they put the emphasis on the content, doesnt mean there isnt going to be a strong machine behind it.

sorry for the double post, it all happened too fast!

Oh no, they are getting money for their work!

Being a little hypocritical are we, coming from someone who likes the Xbox where they want you to make micropayments for stuff that should be free on Xbox Live and make you pay for their online service in order to get patches? I also heard that Apple is milking songs that are like 60 years old on iTunes and selling them for a profit. Shame on them!

How am i being hippocritical?

Xbox live silver is free to use, all they showed in the E3 conference you got for free, why should the crap be free they worked hard to get such a complete service up and running for Xbox, Nintendo have done nothing, they just charge money for stuff that stop being sold 10-15 years ago.

I just finished watching the video, and I am VERY unimpressed.

I mean Nintendogs and wireless mario cart is what they are pimpin? I thought they were trying to get away fromt he kids image?

Nothing at all was revealed about Revlolution. The box wasnt even shown, just the prototype? And Smash Bros is a launch title? Big friggin deal, where is Mario Revolution?

I am very dissapointed after watching the PS3 and 360 videos.

Do you not purchase DVD movies or music that were made 10-15 years ago? Or do you play board games like Monopoly, Risk, Game of Life? People don't seem to have a problem when Parker Brothers repackages their board games made like 50 years ago in a nice new box or if 20th Century Fox releases a Star Wars boxset. So I don't see the problem with Nintendo selling games that were made 10-15 years ago. Edited by jmole

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. No login, no cloud, no account. Your files stay on your device.
