[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

Recommended Posts

Here is what is actually happening. We contacted Nintendo today. There is no major hardware or software announcement going to made. There is, however, a party being held in London tomorrow. “We are inviting everyone along to have a drink and a mingle and learn all about our plans over the Christmas period. There will be a speech by NOE president Satoru Shibata but there will be no significant hardware or software announcements.”

September 16th. :) - the date has supposidly been announced

I don't really trust SPong, however, they could be right, I mean, to me it seems wise to reveal the console on that date, create excitement among fans, and steal some of MS thunder.

hmm someplace other than sponge

maybe the sponge speaks of the truth :alien:

The site Neowin linked to, GameCafe, got their information from Sponge.
As long as Super Smash Bros is online and a launch title, they got me sold. But what would really rock for Revolution, a Pokemon MMORPG.

The funny thing is, that is like the only game I am really excited about for nextgen games and I don't even know a damn thing about it except that it is Smash Brothers and you can play against other people online. That is pretty sad when nothing shown from the other systems have really peaked my interests yet, but a game I know nothing about does.

Pokemon MMORPG?

Thats a lethal combination, the two most addicting types of games combined into one... o_o

The Controller

Hey Matt,is Revolution supposed to be shown at the Tokyo Games Show, or is [site] yankin' my chain?

Matt responds: Any report that claims to have a copy of Iwata's speech is false. These speeches are often not written until days before the events and only a handful of people would have access to them. That noted, there will be Revolution news at TGS and sources have indicated that the company would like to unveil the controller at the event. Again, it should be a very interesting month.

Ugh, he better not be yanking our chain again.

There you go:

So I have had another look at the  Tokyo Game Show event page, which specifies that Satoru Iwata will hold a 50-minute keynote speech at 11am. I then fed the time and date into this timezone converter and came up with these times for the speech:

Tokyo, Japan: 11:00, 16.9.2005

Berlin, Germany: 04:00, 16.9.2005

London, UK: 03:00, 16.9.2005

New York, USA: 22:00, 15.9.2005

Los Angeles, USA: 19:00, 15.9.2005

A piec of the Latest Myamoto interview ( translated )

Why wait so long to release a new installment of Mario? The wait is frustrating players everywhere...

Mario is and always has been a concept title from his birth. We are always looking for new ways of playing with him, manipulating him, to create something new and unique. We're in the midst of preparing something special for his future, something never before seen. You'll understand when you see it that we can't quite release it right away. The new Mario game will surprise many people. Give us the benefit of the doubt. I think we'll present you with a new way to have fun. There's even a new character by his side.

Mario 128 will be released for Revolution then?

Yes, of course! It's no surprise, but of course we will rename it, obviously. That won't be the only surprise of next year though. We based the Revolution around this new type of game. Mario 128 played a large role in the Revolution's conception, much like Mario 64 in it's time. But we won't just be focusing on Mario. We're working on some very impressive games which push interactivity to the max. Games of a new era.

The new Zelda, it's not really good news that...

Please allow me to interrupt you by saying that you will have to be patient, really. This will be, without a doubt, the last Zelda game as you know it in its present form (Maybe he means the concept?). I worked on it personally, moreso than Wind Waker! I haven't invested as much into any game as I have this one. Our goal was to make the best Zelda game ever. The most rich/satisfying and melancholy. We've really improved it in just a few months. Everything's coming together much quicker. We may have some last minute ideas...

You're going to move it to Revolution?

No, it is a Gamecube title.

In any case, you want to preserve the air of mystery around Nintendo?

We will be revealing many details soon. It's true, we do like surprises (laughs). While our gamers are sleeping, we're busy thinking up new ideas. But while they're playing - we're playing as well.

Nice interview, I hope Mario 128 provides as much "wow" factor as Mario 64 did for me back in the day when it first came out when I was in middle school. Mario 128 has been delayed so much, it must be or close to three years in the making I think.

    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues. • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
