the rest of the zelda games are going to be cell shaded

in an interveiew i once read with the creator of zelda, he said that he would definately make some more cell shaded games if he could convince the public to buy them

i think thats how it went, anyway i'll try and find that article

Nice interview, thanks for posting. Regarding the comment about all remaining zeldas being cell-shaded, I really hope that's the way their going to be. I loved the way Link and the entire world looked, and I'm a bit dissapointed they moved to the "realistic" type, but hey, it's all to please the majority, or at least the many, many people who were too narrow-minded.... I mean, thought that it looked childish.

The reason that I don't like the cell shading is because I fell in love with the dark feeling that was so beautifully delivered in Ocarina of Time that switching to a more upbeat and colorful cell-shaded version was just too much of a change from what I loved.

Cell shading is pretty different from the atmosphere. You can have a very dark, serious game with cell-shading.

I loved the cell shading style personally, thus the wind waker is one of my favorite zelda games. I also think that is because of the awesome music at least partly though. I hope they make variations, some cell shaded when the game calls for it, and some normal like for Twilight Princess where the game calls for a darker feel.

Resident Evil 5?

Oh no, here we go again. First it was announced that Resident Evil 5 was coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with no mention of Nintendo?s next generation console. Then Nintendo claimed that the game might be announced later this year as more information on the Revolution is revealed. Now, Adam Riley from Cubed3 who attended the Nintendo?s Christmas Party 2005 in Europe (yes, it took place on August 25th) has stated that ?it was also confirmed that what a few of us had suspected is true ? Resident Evil 5 has yet to be announced for the Revolution purely because details of the system are not publicly available.?

One problem with the claim is that he does not mention from whom he heard this story. Another is that the prior claim of Revolution?s hopeful Resident Evil 5 announcement also came from Cubed3. So who knows? We will try to confirm or disprove this as soon and as best as we can. In the meantime, feel free to be hopeful, but do not be surprised if you are let down.  Otherwise, the article is very lengthy and gives great insight to upcoming Nintendo products, so check it out if you are interested.

It is going to be interesting to see how capable the Revolution acutally turns out to be because if this is true, this will be the third game that are both on the PS3, Xbox360, and Revolution. It could possibly turn out to be another GameCube where Nintendo was down playing the capabilities of the GameCube prior to release and it turned out that it was a little less powerful then the Xbox, but cost Nintendo significantly less to produce.

link was always just a kid thrown in the middle of an epic story, and before windwaker, the zelda games had seriously lost its artistic character... the move to 3d was not very stylized. windwaker felt like alttp realized in a 3d world... with lots of water and a fat green fairy.

ok, i just convinced myself to play this game again...

THQ Onboard Revolution

Company president pledges support, hints at aggressive Nintendo.

by IGN Staff

September 8, 2005 - Tonight at THQ's year-end press event, IGNcube caught up with company president Brian Farrell and quizzed him on Revolution plans. Farrell did confirm that THQ is developing "games for Revolution." Providing more details than that, Farrell indicated wide support for all the next-generation consoles including Revolution, saying, "THQ's plan is to serve gamers no matter what platform they are on." Backing that up, he also firmly stated, "We are commited to Nintendo's [Revolution]."

However, when asked about what plans Nintendo has laid out for THQ, Brian was hush-hush on the matter. But he claims that based on his discussions with the hardware giant, he feels that "Nintendo is waking up."

Finally, when confronted with the question of whether or not THQ was in possession of development hardware, Mr. Farrell declined to provide specifics due to non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). All he would say was that "We're seeing more from Nintendo now [for Revolution] than we have an any other Nintendo platform."

THQ, joins the ranks of Square Enix, Konami, Bandai, and a few other publishers that have pledged support for the Revolution, which, as a reminder, is not the finalized name. Read our Revolution FAQ now for a full list of known details.

^^ Interesting ... I swear, if Iwata doesn't say anything about Rev, I'm going to shoot someone

He's going to speak in riddles and it shall drive the internet into madness. It will be a glorious eight months of more speculation until E3 2006.

well.. the "[Revolution]" and "[for Revolution]" i believe the words

"and a few other publishers that have pledged support for the Revolution, which, as a reminder, is not the finalized name" is trying to hint at us that the revolution now has a brand new name. if they don't show us what the revolution is. its probably a given that they will tell us the new name for the Revolution.

Nice find, I agree with you. Well, at the very least then they'll provide the actual name, which it'll surely be better than the lame-ass names of the competition ("360" sucks, and "3" is plain old repetitive).

Not surprisingly there are a lot of rumors and speculation on the net starting to appear now. Something about Mario's birthday (13/9) and that Nintendo will reveal things before the keynote.

I will not post link because it will only fuel the fire.... but you'll read about on the most popular gameforums right now. For myself, I'm not getting into this like I did at 19th May... If something happens we'll know soon :)

I do not believe anything will happen. there have been too many dates that information may have been unvieled on. If any date. I believe the 16th.

Yea, I'm thinking that too. I'm just saying there's a lot of rumors and speculation right now. Guess it's only the beginning.

I sincerely hope Nintendo reveal the controller the 16th, or else I think it will be to long of a wait until E3 next year. Show us the controller this week and games and hardware etc at E3 2006. PLEASE!

So I guess the NDA theory with developers is true.

From the GameCube mailbag on IGN: Link

I tell ya Matt, it's encouraging to hear these developers say Nintendo is moving into the right direction with the Revolution. Im less worried and all the more excited now and hope Nintendo blows our minds during TGS. Keep up the good Revolution news reporting.

Matt responds: I know what you mean. I wasn't expecting much when I cornered THQ's Brian Farrell last night, but was really surprised by his comments. He's very optimistic about Nintendo Revolution and he's definitely seen more than any of us. He kept telling me he couldn't say much because of NDAs and even that is encouraging because so often we just don't know if Nintendo is even reaching out to publishers. The simple fact that he's under NDA means that THQ is working with the Big N. And if THQ is there, it's very likely that most of the other big publishers have been contacted, too.

    • Anyway to download these versions without being on the Experimental builds?
    • Nothing is stopping you from continuing with your testing cadence. If updates are released every 2 weeks instead of 4, and you test once every 4 weeks, the exact same amount of patches will still be available for you in those 4 weeks. For example: Before 4th week - patch 1, 2, 3, 4 After 2nd week - patch 1 and 2 4th week - patch 3 and 4 Still the same amount after 4.
    • Everyone else has said it. I'm gonna say it - you don't know what you're talking about. I do. I have two laptops. One work, one personal. I have access to two more laptops - both personal. At home I manually update my personal laptop when I see on Neowin that there is an update - I carry on and only apply the updates when I am ready. My work one only updates when my workplace decides to send it - I carry on and only apply the updates (when they actually arrive, which is usually days after the release) when I switch off the laptop at the end of the day as usual. The two other personal laptops only get updated when I get to it which is rarely - the people who own them carry on using them until I get to it and update them. All of the browsers on all laptops are configured to restore the tabs when launched. Google and Microsoft have changed from 6 weeks to 4, and it looks like it's going to move to 2. None of these changes affect how any of these browsers on the laptops are used. Not one jot. My advice to you is stop panicking whenever you see an update. Just carry on with what you're doing. This even benefits you in a way - from your comment you sound like you don't like the changes or the frivolous new features - great - then carry on as before!
