In my opinion avast! is the best antivirus around. After installing it after having Nortin IS 2003/2004/2004 and Symantec Client Security 2/3, avast! is the best. Looking at the info for all the free av products, avast has the most features and best protection IMO.

I've been using ZoneAlarm with Antivirus for what must be almost a year now  , and I have had no problems with it at all. It uses ComputerAssosiate's antivirus engine, and has detected two 'viruses so far,' they were just websites that had mal intentioned scripts in them and it stopped them, so all in all, I feel it's a good a/v. To top it all off, you know you have one of the best (in my opinion) firewalls around to add those extra layers of security. I'm also a believer in the motto that the best form of virus protection is the user themselves, though I can see how in certain situations, this is not always possible.

I might change to NOD 32. It looks good and has a nice clean interface. Also, only runs 1 service instead of good old McAfee which runs about 5!

I do like it yes, and have also noticed that there seems to be no way to pirate it easily - I admin i downloaded a couple of RAR files with it in to see, however it seems to want to replace files, or run a seperate installer. This is possibly one of the only ones I know of that is like this - Trend Micro is another one. This is good because it shows that the company has teaken steps to stop pirating of this software.

I second this, I use Zonealarm's firewall anyway so I ditched TrendMicro and saved some system resources. AV has been relegated to the security back-burner for me, I could probably run my machine without it and be fine. Spyware and network threats are much more viable.

Hi

I'm currently using NAV 2005, and I"m wondering if Mcafee is good(I won't use anything but Retail, store bought programs) thinking of switching to Mcafee once NAV 2005 subscription is up. Please let me know how good Mcafee is, and I'll go ahead and switch to it when subscription is over with this program

Thanks

Actually, NOD32 runs 2 or 3 services if you want full protection. Same as McAfee. You have to turn on the other services because they're off by default.

I personally dislike NOD32 because it is the slowest scanner I've ever used, not to mention that it slowed down my family computer tremendously compared to NAV.

Trend Micro for my computer.

NOD32 wouldn't be slow unless you've got something else that it's not compatible with. It does seem to disagree with almost as many programs as Outpost though.
