simmorya
Should hopefully be the end of this week or early next week. From applenews.net.tc "Yesterday, Apple seeded yet another build of Mac OS X 10.4.2, this time fixing a couple of issues with AirPort connections after switching network locations as well as some Dashboard widget issues." "While the update's still missing from Software Update, this page about Standard Additions to AppleScript mentions the upcoming update. So here's to the hope this means it'll be released soon. The latest build (8C44) feels very stable indeed, ready for production, our sources say. Alas, the "no known issues in this build" message doesn't say much, since no build of 10.4.2 had any known issues in the release notes."
PureLogic
It must not like some hardware or something because it doesn't show the sending animation for me either.? I just have to guess that it sent.? I have a 1.5GHz 12" PowerBook 586163116[/snapback] It kinda goes beyond me how stuff like that can be affected by one's hardware. I'm like: "huh?!" am_fek
I had the dictionary issue on my initial install as well. I could use the context menu to look up words in dictionary.app and the dashboard widget would work, but the ctrl-cmd-D shortcut would do nothing. Dictionary.app would run in the background (I was able to see it running in top or ps) for about five minutes and then just quit. Reinstalling fixed it. No idea what the problem could have been as it was the same hardware and they were both clean installs. The only thing I can surmise is that on the second install I deliberately did not import my backed-up preferences from 10.3.9 into 10.4. Did you restore old Panther plists after you reinstalled? jakej
I was recently in an Apple store buying my first mac. Out of curiosity, I asked how long it would be before the OS would be obsolete. He said 10.4.2 (or 10.4.3, I forget what he said) would be coming out soon, but it would be a free update over the net. Sounds good to me... Huy
They're really churning out these updates, 10.4.1 was out the door really quickly, but .2 is taking it's time. Good work on Apple's part though! My 10.3.9. Panther install was running great but 10.4 really flies! Wonder what 10.4.2. will do for me. :D
wtmcgee
It would appear they're really focusing on QA testing for this one ... which is a good thing.
