@ vassie

Thanks,

I don't think I can help you with the font , I didn't do anything special to get the font to look like that. Just downloaded it and selected it in my terminal profile ,size 9.

The menu thing , right click on the gnome panel > add to panel > main menu

, then remove the other menu > rightclick > remove from panel.

msg43,

i said the name of the font in my screenshot details ..

Font: Tahoma 8, Terminal font: Profont

and vassie didn't asked for the font.

I downloaded ProFont for Linux, and set it as my terminal font, but it looked nothing like that

;)

Hey Knight,

How does FreeBSD perform on your vaio? I've got a Sony VAIO PCG-R600HFPD and running FC4 on it and it's a bit slow.

BTW, is it easy to get FreeBSD on the laptop, and do you happen to know how to adjust the brightness while on battery?

Thanks.

I'm pretty new to FreeBSD on the desktop, 2 days to be exact, so at the moment I'm not sure this can be done. In Linux it was pretty easy though...

nifty, first freebsd screenie i've seen

Not much changed from my last shot, apart from the addition of desktop icons. I'm normally an elitist snob about icons and panels (ie I think they're useless and for noobs :p), but I thought I'd give them a try.

^^^ Those are desktop icons for home and such at the top of your wall?!?

Pretty spiffy looking.

Yep, thats them. I thought the icons suited the colours of the wall, so decided to give them a whirl. They're called "Litho" by the way, but can't remember where I found them... I do remember having to use icoutils to convert them from windows .ico format though.

A bunch of changes & tweaks, I'm suprised I haven't destroyed anything yet but I'm learning. I think my plan is to run Ubuntu as much as I can for 1 month and then see where it takes me, because I usually remove linux when I get to a problem I can't solve for more then a few hours.
