One problem about faking all the stuff they ask for:

From the Spooted TOS Section 5:

What do you think they'll do to Danny since he faked all the stuff.  ;)

Bah. I don't think it much matters. They can't even tell if someone appears to have typed in the "right" information either. Sure you could put real info ... but is it yours? Or someguy 20 blocks away???

I think what would be better for the hosting company would be to gather more information about the people surfing on its free websites.

i think its great, actually. it has cpanel for you and the ftp uploading speeds hover around ~48KB/s which is actually pretty great. http download speed is pretty fast too. i downloaded a 2.48MB file in 30 seconds (if not, less  )

they're using the 4.3.11 release of php though  a tad out of date though..they're using mysql 4.0.25, which is a version behind (current is 4.1). there is smtp and email addresses under your subdomain (or domain, but not in my case). you get 100 additional email accounts as well as "[email protected]".

total disk space: 1024.00MB (they didn't skimp on the 24MB :p )

total bandwidth: 10000.00MB (almost 10GB of bandwidth, although they missed 240MB  )

not much to complain about (as it is free as well, which is great) :D

I signed up and waiting for their approval. I hope they would last long. However, their design is quite vauge and boring though.

The php and mysql is out of date, because it is included in cPanel, being a host myself, I know this. As soon as cPanel release a build with php5, I update my servers with it. I presume that spooted will do the same.

They replyed within a day and my account was approved. Im currently running my .com site and its pretty amazing. A whole cpanel comes with it too. Ftp, mysql, the works. I see no downsides to this host other then they need more bandwidth. :D Im already using 400mbs of the 10g in just less then 3 days and most of that comes from my forum. I would post a link but its not allowed on neowin.

For who of you that were accepted...

What did you enter? Did you put your actual stats, did you switch around numbers, or just bs'd it.

They harp on using the English language, yes, but that's not about avoiding typos or bad grammar. They require your sites to be in English so they can read it. They manually check sites to ensure people are being good. They couldn't do that if your site was Russian.

this is sorta embarrassing for me... but i signed up and was accepted, and i changed my password and everything.... but how do i access my cpanel? I looked around the site for a while, i'm probably missing something really obvious.

can somebody enlighten me?

if you have changed your dns servers to the spooted ones, and its been 2-3 days, type your website url and then put /cpanel after it and log in :)

Or go to your url and type :2082/ beside it and login :)

So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic Games Store's mystery giveaways may have ended, but its regular freebies didn't miss a step this week. Next, Ouroboros King is a crossover between chess and tactical roguelikes, offering the chance to create your own army with special rules to beat incoming foes on the board. The double giveaway on the Epic Games Store will be available until June 11, and replacing it will be Citizen Sleeper and ROBOBEAT. The Humble Store brought a new charity bundle to check out this week too. • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
    • Same, never saw it on Android or iOS. Guess only some people got it *shrugs*
    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
