Free 1GB Web Host

Question

It's good that there are more free hosts all the time... though I've had too many that force adverts upon you after a while. I currently use Tried and True Webhost, which offers from 500MB/5GB transfer to 1.8GB/30GB transfer (dependent upon postcount)... though you must make 3 posts per week or your account is suspended.

I don't know what it is but Spooted looks a bit amateur and I've had too many sites like that build up with hype and then disappear a few weeks/months later. If you can actually get a free .com address then it might be worth a try... I really hope it works and stays up.

3. Payments.

(a) Fees (if applicable)

Fees are payable in advance on the first day of each billing cycle. Customer?s billing cycle shall a calendar month or twelve calendar months, as indicated on the Order. The first service fee shall include a prorated portion of the monthly fee for the first partial month of service plus the fee for the first full billing cycle. Spooted.com may require payment in full of the first fee before beginning service. If the Order provides for credit/debit card billing, Customer authorizes Spooted.com to bill subsequent fees to the credit/debit card on or after the first day of each billing cycle during the Term of this Agreement; otherwise Spooted.com will invoice Customer via electronic mail to the Primary Customer Contact listed on the Order. Invoiced fees may be issued on or before the 1st day of each billing cycle, and the fees shall be due on the 14th day following invoice date, but in no event earlier than the first day of each billing cycle.

Payments must be made in United States dollars. Customer is responsible for providing Spooted.com with changes to billing information (such as credit card expiration, change in billing address) At its option, Spooted.com may accrue charges to be made to a credit/debit card until such charges exceed $10.00. Spooted.com may charge interest on overdue amounts at the lesser of 1.5% per month or the maximum non-usurious rate under applicable law. Spooted.com may suspend the service without notice if payment for the service is overdue. Fees not disputed within sixty (60) days of due date are conclusively deemed accurate. Customer agrees to pay Spooted.com?s reasonable reinstatement fee following a suspension of service for non-payment, and to pay Spooted.com?s reasonable costs of collection of overdue amounts, including collection agency fees, attorney fees and court costs.

(b) Fee Increases. Spooted.com may increase its fees for services effective the first day of a Renewal Term by giving notice to Customer of the new fees at least forty five (45) days prior to the beginning of the Renewal Term, and if Customer does not give a notice of non-renewal as provided in Section 2 above, the Customer shall be deemed to have accepted the new fee for that Renewal Term and any subsequent Renewal Terms (unless the fees are increased in the same manner for a subsequent Renewal Term).

© Early Termination. Customer acknowledges that the amount of the fee for the service is based on Customer?s agreement to pay the fee for the entire Initial Term, or Renewal Term, as applicable. In the event Spooted.com terminates the Agreement for Customer?s breach of the Agreement in accordance with Section 9 (Termination), or Customer terminates the service other than in accordance with Section 9 (Termination) for Spooted.com?s breach, the unpaid fees for each billing cycle remaining in the Initial Term or then-current Renewal Term, as applicable, are due on the business day following termination of the Agreement

I tried signing up but got:

Unfortunately we cannot activate your account due to the following reason -

- You have not signed up from one of the accepted countries

- You do not own the domain name

- Your URL is not friendly

1) I live in the UK. So their "We know your country" script/whatever is wrong.

2) It is a subdomain, I don't need to own it do I?

3) Not friendly? What does this mean? I didn't use somthing like "imgoingtobangyourmum.spooted.org"

No they could not and legally you would have to consent to it. When they say rules and packages they don't mean anything about paying unless you give them sort of payment information. Also, you have to read the fine print, they could legally charge you a $1,000 for it as long as it is in writing inside of their rules but of course they would need your payment info first but I would not worry at all about them charging you but I would stay away from them if anyone is thinking about signing up.

Bummer, well at least I didn't loose anything that important. Hostingzero has always been good to me. One google ad and they even launched their own registry service. "If" Spooted doesn't come back online which I hope they do, at least they tried.

Doesn't it seem weird that they got many people to sign up, and then they seemed to have gotten the heck out of Dodge?

I don't think they left. The .com version may have become a white and black text page, but it spawned Spooted.org. Spooted.org is offering the same (almost) options, but with ads. If it's the same group, why didn't they reuse their .com? Oh well, one google ad still is fine with me on my old host. If anybody is looking for a place: HostingZero

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
    • I guess we are done since you refuse to read my comment you replied to or my other comment in another thread you were also a part of here.
