How is everyone doing? I haven't had a chance to drop into Neowin much over the past week.

Cradle of Filth are hardly death metal... And I'm pretty sure any death metal listeners wouldn't be into HIM.

Cradle of Filth used to be a black metal band, but now they're considered "extreme gothic metal" if you want to get overly technical. And I agree about the HIM comment, bleh.

What is a good metal band similiar to Children of Bodom? They rock, and I need more bands similiar to them 8)

If you like CoB you'll also like Norther. Both bands sound very, very similar.

Arch Enemy doesn't sound like CoB. Neither did At the Gates. You can't just throw out well-known Scandanavian acts to compare them. They're melo-death metal bands while CoB is power/speed with harsh vocals. If you want CoB-like sound, seriously check out Norther.

I think it's funny how many metal heads get so bothered about people mislabelling genres. The world is going to end when someone calls Slayer Death Metal, fyi. ;)

Looking forward to the new Decapitated, looking forward to seeing Nile live as well. Hopefully I get a ticket.

Anyone here listen to Opera IX?

True, I just wanted to reccomend Amon Amarth, and I don't have a ****ing clue whats labelled as what in metal... is the Black Dahlia Murder thrash? or speed? or death? . . .

Anyone here like BDM? I can't quite help thinking my current love of 'closed casket requiem' might be a little unhealthy.

Oh and how heard of are Viking Skull? I saw them live and tbh (I'm sorry) wasn't impressed, would probably need a while to get into it. That said, they put on a good show - using a grinder on their guitar at the end sending a shower of sparks each and every way.

Norther is great, thanks a lot man (Y)

Yes sir, great band.

I got tickets to Opeth's show in NYC next month as well as Decapitated/Nile on the 6th.

Opera IX - [The Black Opera Symphoniae Mysteriorum In Laudem Tenebrarum #06] ACT VI The Sixth Seal [7:50] :-D

I wish I could find more of their stuff.

Those are the two shows I'm trying to go to as well, hahah.

If anyone is really into Norse Mythology or Viking themes, you should check out Equilibrium's album Turis Fratyr and Falkenbach's latest release, Heralding - The Fireblade. Of course, you can always check out classics such as Ensiferum's two albums and Wintersun.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
