What are the required specs of your system to install it?

Mine:

Pentium 4 1.8 GHz processor

256 MB memory

Free Space: 11 GB

How big does the partition have to be?

I also have an unopened 225 BG harddrive package that I can install if there isn't enough space.

Would Beta 1 kill my system? I am not all that concerned about speed because i know that my comp is slow enough. I'm more going for functionality. :)

And yes, I do have a subscription.

Yeah, I'm having major issues (again).  I have Intel Graphics 3D 845 and the graphics are all 4 bit and it's 600x400.  When I installed XP I had to download and install the drivers but it's not letting me because of the new OS.  Any help?

Of course the graphics are low color and low res.

You have a video card that is way WAY WAY below the minimum required for vista video cards. You will never be able to use that card in Vista. It simply can not handle the Vista video requirements.

Upgrade to a real graphics card. That's your only solution.

Posting this on Vista. :)

Aero transparency and all other affects work on Dell Inspirion 6000 with ATI Mobility Radeon X300. I wasn't sure if it would.

No errors so far...

Sigh ... Are you gonna explain how you got that flashy DX desktop? Because it's not even in this beta.

What? It's only 2 years old but a crappy card at that. I'm trying something but if it doesn't work I'm giving up.

I have it sort of working. I got it to full color. Web sites look great but the text in Windows itself it messed up. I realized it didn't quite install the right driver but close. I'm trying to change it.

Everyone seems to have no trouble with installing...am I the only one that cant get past the bootmanager?!

No, your not the only one. I am having issues on my laptop. I boot from cd, get the loading windows dialog, then the longhorn loading screen and the it just stops doing anything. Must not like my hardware or it may not like my 2nd partition. I have no clue.

Its a newer laptop too. P4 2.8 1 gig of ddr400 80 gig hard drive and a ATI 9600 128mb mobile and integrated wireless. No idea what the issue is.

You need a video card that can support DirectX9.

I'm running it on a fairly high end pc ... click on the 'specs' link in my signature ... And dxdiag tells me I have DX9c installed ...

Still haven't found out how to enable that new desktop ...

Run: uxss

(if it's like in the 5048....)

How are you all downloading it so quickly? The quickest i've found is 16 kbps
Well i'm just getting 38K ATM... not inpressive...

EDIT2: 56K :D

I just had a look at the Display Drivers with LDDM Support listing and Aeolus 6800GT-DV256 is not listed as far as I can see. However I could be wrong since it requires you to look at the Dxdiag output file and match it.

Have a go with it and see if it's on the list or not.

*sigh* to finally answer your annoying question. That desktop will be available in Beta 2, you gotta do it with Aero right now...

And, damn that installation takes long, I downloaded it last night and woke up to install it this morning but it's progressing REALLY slow.

    • Amazon Deal: These AMD RX 9070 XT GPUs are very good offers by Sayan Sen Following the release of AMD's new RX 9070 GRE last week for $549 (our review), AMD currently has a couple of great deals on the more powerful 9070 XT wherein the GPU is on sale for $650. We already covered the Gigabyte Gaming model a couple of days ago which is still live at that price. Aside from that, the white ICE variant is also at the same price (purchase link under the specs table down below). This is interesting to note considering white cards are generally more expensive as they come with a premium attached. Similar to the Gaming model, the ICE card too employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The tech specs of the card are given in the table below: Specification Value Boost Clock Up to 3060 MHz (Reference Card: 2970 MHz) Game Clock Up to 2520 MHz (Reference Card: 2400 MHz) Stream Processors 4096 Memory Size 16 GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Clock 20 Gbps Memory Bus Width 256-bit PCI Express Interface PCI Express 5.0 Max Resolution 7680 × 4320 Maximum Displays Supported 4 Display Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Card Dimensions 288 × 132 × 56 mm (L × W × H) (2.7 slot) Recommended Power Supply 750 W Power Connectors 3 × 8-pin PCIe Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Radeon™ RX 9070 XT Gaming OC ICE 16G Graphics Card (GV-R907XGAMINGOCICE-16GD): $649.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $750) If your budget is lower, check this Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 8GB deal out for only $330 wherein you get the latest James Bond game free. • What about it? The old MV2 version will not work.
    • Wow, this is some Iran, Cuba, China, Russia, North Korea-level citizen surveillance right there, the UK's government has gone totally mad. Power trip indeed, their politicians are totally out of control about this issue. They're starting to cross limits I wouldn't have imagined, to be honest. British people, fight this, your privacy and freedoms are in danger. Vote this government out of power.
