Do you tip pizza delivery people?

Recommended Posts

I am a delivery driver for a chinese restaurant and the $2 I make per delivery DOES NOT cover my costs of driving all the way to the further suburbs that we deliver to.

In Australia we don't have a real tipping system like in the US. Instead we have a 'keep the change' thing for delivery guys.  If I didn't get to 'keep the change' at all I'd overall make a loss on my salary, so why should I even bother doing deliveries then?

I find that usually people with nice cars or houses(i.e. wealthier) are LESS likely to tip me. And asians NEVER tip at all, even for little petty change they usually ask for the change. I'm part asian and I know its a mentality for most asians to have the mentality of "why should I give extra for something I've already paid for". But since working as a delivery guy I know that I lose salary when people don't tip.

Some of my regular big tippers are people like a bus driver and an old lady pensioner. So really being rich or not isn't an excuse not to tip a bit. And for the love of God, if you live far away from the place you are ordering from, give the delivery guy a tip!!! Sometimes I'll drive right out to our delivery boundary, and usually these people never tip.

I'd have to agree, Australians don't tip well. I drive for my local pizza hut and only make about $15 a week in tips. I will disagree and say that Asians usually give tips, not a large amount of money, but most I have been to do tip.

Most likley to tip:

Tradies

Older people

Young people

Poor people

Males

People that don't tip well are middle aged people, rich people and females.

When I am tipped, they usually say to round the change off to the nearest dollar or five. It's always good when they hand you a bit of extra money on top of what they paid with.

Tip him Rs. 10-20 on an order of 200 or above.

Cool thing happened incidently, i ordered some pizzas from Domino's, and they guarantee 30 mins. delivery or free.

Well, he took 35 mins. but asked to pay half the price of the order. and we got free coke. so tipped him Rs 15.

ya, tipping is a must for a extra service. if you dont tip, go pick it up yourself.

i tip all the time, and i barely have enough money after bills and living expenses. I tip becuase it shows you appriate their good service, and good service is almost a must i think. dont tip them, and you get some nasty food, trust me on that, ive had plenty of friends in the food industry tell me what they and others have done to you people who dont tip. all i can say is, i hope you dont kiss your kids with those dirty dirty mouths.

I never have. I don't think anyone in uk tips delivery guys.

I might let him keep the change if it's ?1-?2

It's not like they provide a variable service. They either delivery it, or they don't.

edit: i always tip in restaurants, just not delivery guys. It's not like they do much

dont do much? they have to find your house and drive in rain, snow, whatever as a service to you... how do you call that doing nothing.

sorry i work at a carwash where sometimes we get "nontippers" and it just ****es the hell out of me.

    • AltSendme 0.4.1 by Razvan Serea AltSendme is a minimal, cross-platform application designed for fast, secure, and private peer-to-peer file transfers. It allows users to send files or entire directories directly between devices without relying on cloud servers, accounts, or any personal information. Everything is encrypted end-to-end using modern protocols like QUIC and TLS 1.3, ensuring both strong security and low-latency performance. Transfers are verified with BLAKE3 for data integrity, and interrupted downloads automatically resume, making the experience reliable even on unstable connections. You can transfer anything—images, videos, documents, and more. Integrity checks are performed on both ends, so your files are automatically verified for correctness during both sending and receiving. AltSendme works seamlessly across local networks or long-distance links, capable of saturating multi-gigabit connections for extremely fast delivery. With built-in NAT traversal and encrypted relay fallback, it connects devices almost anywhere. The app integrates with the Sendme CLI and will soon support mobile and web platforms. Fully free and open-source, AltSendme offers a lightweight, privacy-first alternative to traditional cloud-based services, removing size limits, upload costs, and unnecessary data exposure. AltSendme 0.4.1 changelog: Release Highlights Self-hosted relays: Run your own iroh relay so transfers don't rely on public infrastructure. Includes a full deployment template in deploy/relay/ with Docker Compose for a VPS and configuration examples for production use. Fly.io support: One-click deploy template for Fly.io, including a quick-start config (fly.dev.toml) for testing without a custom domain, plus production setup with Let's Encrypt and your own hostname. Relay settings UI: New Settings → Network panel to choose how AltSendme connects: automatic public relays, custom self-hosted URLs (with optional auth token), or disabled. Test connections, verify latency, and see live relay status in the footer. Disable relays: Turn off relay servers entirely when you only need same-network transfers (e.g. LAN). Direct connections only. No relay hop required when devices can reach each other. Android graduates from beta: Android is now part of the regular release cycle alongside desktop. APKs ship with each version (universal, arm64, and armv7). • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
