Do you tip pizza delivery people?

Recommended Posts

I always tip too, like someone said earlier, if the pizza costs ?18, I just give them a ?20 note. I swear Dominoes know I'm a regular take away orderer, they always send different blokes to deliver the pizzas because they know they get a good ti:p:p

Usually $10 for the pizza guy. Poor guy is always getting shafted by the cheap skates around here. Sorry, but I would be ashamed of myself for giving them 1 or 2 dollars.

Don't they get to pocket 100% of their tips?

I believe so, but their gas tank eats a good chunk of it I'm sure.

I never have. I don't think anyone in uk tips delivery guys.

I might let him keep the change if it's ?1-?2

It's not like they provide a variable service. They either delivery it, or they don't.

edit: i always tip in restaurants, just not delivery guys. It's not like they do much

Well I'm in the UK and I always tip the guy ?1, everyone I know also tips, you must be really tig:huh:uh:

The only reason I tip is because I don't want to find spit in my food the next time I order from the same plac:rofl:fl:

Depends on the driver. If they are on time and my food is warm, I'll tip if I have it to tip. Usually they get pocket change cause THEY SUCK and drive all over town before delivering my pizza.

i let them keep the change, but i usally order to a round number (e.g ?10, ?20 etc...) so he don't get much, but hey he gets paid for doing his job why does he need my money!

I find tipping for trivial things vulgur. The employers should pay them enough - if they can't earn money without tips then they should find a proper job. However, if I am at a restaurant and the service is helpful and the meal is nice then I will tip as they are going beyond the expected service.

I guess it's a cultural thing, though. In the US tipping is effectively required for people to earn money but here in the UK it isn't like that.

What on earth do you get for free?

In here if it's not delivered within 40 minutes of your call, you get the Pizza for free.

Well where I live Waitresses and bar staff only get like 3 dollars an hour they work for tips. Pizza delivery gets a full wage. So no I usually dont tip, unless they do something above and beyond. I have a Pizza Hut deslivery guy here that always brings Napkins, Peppers, Cheese and wetnaps all bundled in a rubberband. He I always tips 3 dollars. he is the only one I have found that tries to do something extra and deserves the tip

Where do you live?

In the US minimum wage is $5.15 (higher in some states) and very often a waitress/waiter gets paid more then the pizza delivery guy.

Waiters/waitresses & pizza delivery guys are very equal.

The pizza delivery cars most of the time use their transportation method (car) which costs gas, maintenance and such.

Yes, I feel bad because my delivery dude has only one arm, and he carries the hot pizza, with the same hand and has to do so much work, it's so sad. :(

His other arm is tucked behind his back, :p

No, because most of the time my order is wrong, and they took over an hour to get it to me. Plus...for some reason...they are always rude. Just horrible.

If they want a tip, the least they can do is be nicer.

Here in Spain almost nobody tips. It's cultural, I think. In here, you only tip someone if you think he or she is doing more than you are paying for (very nice meal, good service, smiles...)

But on the other hand if the order is, for example, 19? you would pay with 20? and give away that 1? - same for pizza people, restaurants, etc.
