Do you tip pizza delivery people?

Recommended Posts

oh yeah and here's another tip(no pun intended :p);

if you don't tip, the delivery driver is going to forget about you the second he leaves your house. if he does still remember you, he isn't going to go out on a limb the next time because he knows you won't tip him.

if you do tip, he usually will remember you and where you live. this way, the next time you get something delivered he will be quicker because a) he will remember your house because of your kindness b) be quicker knowing that you might tip him again.

Kindness comes from the heart and whether a delivery guy is rude or not is irrelevant. By simply saying "He was rude so he doesn't get a tip" people are being hypocritical because they themselves aren't showing any initiative of kindness either. Sometimes you have to give a little before you can expect the same back! But usually I am nice to everyone I meet the first time. If they are constantly going to not tip me they shouldn't expect a really warm greeting.

also the restaurant doesn't pay for my cars wear and tear and accidents. While I get there as fast as possible, I'm not going to drive to the point where I am endangering others on the road by reckless speeding. So if you've waited a long time, maybe its time you ordered from a shop closer to your house. In any case the chance of me being in an accident since I am on the road so much, salaries don't fact this. Nor do they factor the chance that a maniac on the road will hit me someday, and I will be injured or possibly killed.

I hate biting, but I will. I said I wold let the guy keep 1-2 quid, but you "always" tip the guy 1. So who's the bigger tipper.....?

I am no way tight. I _gave_ saxondale a ?50 videocard. I'm no way tight, I give to charity, homeless, buskers etc. I'm a subscriber, and I've given ad-hoc donations to Marcel also.

I just have never considered delivery guys to be doing anything _extra_ than what they are paid for.

Besides, you said the "only" reason you tip is because you don't want spit in your food. So how is that being generous? That's a completely selfish reason to tip someone.

winmaclin, I rarely flame, bite or troll, and I didn't think you'd be one to personally attack someone (you called me tight).

anyway, I know we both know we're good guys, so we'll leave it there.

have a good evening.

you said no one tips, and I said I tip and the reason why I tip its selfish? selfish that I don't want my meal round someone's ass crack before it arrives at my front door : And when I said I always tip ?1 I meant as a minimum I always tip ?1. So I guess I'm the bigger tipper since if you got no change they got no tip huh?

I used to tip quite a bit until the pizza place started delivering cold pizza, not getting the order right, delivering it way late, and sometimes not even bothering to cut it. Funny, after I quit tipping I noticed charges to my credit card for more than what I signed for at the door for the pizza. The drivers were overcharging my card purposely and commiting fraud to get their tips.

Let's just say I will never do business with Pizza Hut again. I can't stand doing business with a company that hires tweekers who steal when they aren't rewarded for making mistakes. Not all employees there are bad, but in the area I live there are a lot of druggies and other low life scum. Let's just say I keep a loaded .45ACP handy in my bedroom when I am sleeping. :|

Hmm, thats funny. I am already giving by ordering the pizza in the first place. Regardless of tipping or not (which is not mandatory since the delivery employee makes at least minimum wage) you should always treat a customer with kindness and respect. Without customers, you lose business. If a delivery driver was rude to me, I would call the manager and tell them I won't be ordering from you anymore. Then the driver will either get repimanded or dismissed. Would that be worth it? This being said, I do ususally tip, but no employee who makes min or more should ever expect anything. I worked for a store and one of my duties was to carry big items to people's cars. I was told from day one that I may NEVER receive a tip for this service. I understand about car wear and tear and such, but I am sure that was explained when you began working.

Anyone that doesn't tip is a jerk. It's as simple as that. It's no different than tipping in a restaurant.

I completely agree! If you can't afford to tip the delivery person, then don't get it delivered. Go get it yourself. The restaurant may provide the delivery service for free, but it isn't "free" to the person bringing you the food. Yes, they are being paid by the restaurant, but not for all of the headaches and hassles that go with trying to deliver your order in a timely manner.

I tip the girl who cuts my hair. I tip the valet who parks my car. If I have a large or cumbersome order and a service person helps me get it to my car or loads my car, I will tip that person as well.

And to the person who said they don't tip because if that person needs tips to survive they should get another job - why don't you get another job so you don't have to be tightass about things.

Of course, I am only talking about services given in the U.S. I don't know how things are done in other countries and what is acceptable and such.

Oh, and please, don't take any of this as a personal attack. (Unless you never tip - and then, just remember - you are judged on how you treat others. What comes around, goes around!)

Sheesh, I need another Diet Cherry Coke. I'd tip anyone who would run downstairs and bring me one!

2-7$ depending on my mood and the amount of money my parents left lying around the damn house

Usually its 2$ though

lol, i'm with you on that mood thing. Usually i range from $5 - $7. Holiday times and bad weather get a little more usually. And if they compliment my house...i give into flattery
