Place your unaltered shell32.dll,mydocs.dll, explorer.exe and iexplore.exe in the input folder. All you need to do is click the appropriate script to convert the files. The finished product will be in the output folder.

um, your just saying what im not understanding. What is the input folder? Is it the folder where i unzipped the patch too? Or is it the folder that the dll or exe file belongs in? Ive already tried moving the files into the folder with the patch and the run cmds, nothing changed after doing the steps and rebooting. So what am I doing wrong?

I am having trouble switching the old files with the patched ones. Windows keeps putting the files back or it won't replace them at all. I can't change explorer.exe without it running or with it running. Some one said earlier to change the dllcache folder backups with .bak but I can't find that folder or the second copies. iexplorer.exe is also replacing itself. Help :(

Someone help - please

Okay I followed the instructions to the new tutorial on the front page. I made a back up of my shell32.dll file and all of the other files that the README specified to back up. Then I took the orginal shell32.dll file put into the input folder then ran the command prompt for it. A new shell32.dll file was produced in the output file. Anyway I then replaced the orginal shell32.dll file in the system 32 folder with the new shell32.dll file from the output folder - nothing happened. Then I restarted my computer and still my icons are the same as they are in XP. Can someone please explain to me what exactly I did wrong?

use this program to replace the dll and exe

i also have suggestion. i think the folder icons might look more nicer if they were the open folders rather than the closed one. but thats only my opinion.

heres an image of the 2 types of folders

just use my iconpackager theme (supports very high resolutions)

Here

The problem with IconPackager is that it screws with icons it has no business messing with. It also doesn't replace as many icons as the what replacing the shell32, explorer, and mydocs.dll does. You get a more complete look by replacing the files yourself.

I got all the icons replaced except for the drives icon and folders icon.. how can I fix this.. any help is greatly apreciated....

Never mind fixed it.. but know every time I double click on a drive it send me to a search dialog can anyone help me???

    • Kind of glad I upgraded to S26 Ultra 1TB this year, with trade-in and discounts it cost me €1199, that's only €119 more than the S23 Ultra (256 GB) cost me. Last time I bought it via my phone provider outright with committing to two years, now via Samsung.com I reckon the S27 series will be more expensive too.
