All you need to do is click the appropriate script to convert the files. The finished product will be in the output folder. What is the input folder? Is it the folder where i unzipped the patch too? Or is it the folder that the dll or exe file belongs in? Ive already tried moving the files into the folder with the patch and the run cmds, nothing changed after doing the steps and rebooting. So what am I doing wrong? joeydoo
I am having trouble switching the old files with the patched ones. Windows keeps putting the files back or it won't replace them at all. I can't change explorer.exe without it running or with it running. Some one said earlier to change the dllcache folder backups with .bak but I can't find that folder or the second copies. iexplorer.exe is also replacing itself. Help :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/352940-vista-beta-1-icons-xp-working/page/4/#findComment-586321256 Share on other sites

slvcadillac
Someone help - please Okay I followed the instructions to the new tutorial on the front page. I made a back up of my shell32.dll file and all of the other files that the README specified to back up. Then I took the orginal shell32.dll file put into the input folder then ran the command prompt for it. A new shell32.dll file was produced in the output file. Anyway I then replaced the orginal shell32.dll file in the system 32 folder with the new shell32.dll file from the output folder - nothing happened. Then I restarted my computer and still my icons are the same as they are in XP. Can someone please explain to me what exactly I did wrong? l3thalsab3r
use this program to replace the dll and exe i also have suggestion. i think the folder icons might look more nicer if they were the open folders rather than the closed one. but thats only my opinion. heres an image of the 2 types of folders and thanks for the icon pack. JustGeorge
just use my iconpackager theme (supports very high resolutions)Here 586321286[/snapback] The problem with IconPackager is that it screws with icons it has no business messing with. It also doesn't replace as many icons as the what replacing the shell32, explorer, and mydocs.dll does. You get a more complete look by replacing the files yourself. Dm3l
There is also a Longhorn/Vista Transformation Pack, which has some system files, and the skin of Windows Longhorn/Vista...A friend of mine, gave it to me in a CD, but the file is called Longhorn Transformation Pack, I think it should be on the Internet. JustGeorge
I don't really care for anything but the icons. The black Vista theme is ugly as sin in my opinion. Why is the icon called shortcut overlay covers the whole program icon. here's an example shortcut of VMware on desktop has anyone been able to fix this icon so it can look like the one in XP ?
