where in reshack do i change the icons, i tried once and nothing changed

Mike

This is the line to be modified. But what should it look like. This sounds like something that needs to be done in XP to change all of the Program files that don't get changed. I think icon 20 is for Program Files ?

-addoverwrite icons\shell32\Icon_20.ico, ICONGROUP,20,1033

Do not alter the script files, if you want to update the patcher to patch these files place the files attached into the icon\shell32 folder replacing the icons Icon_20.ico and Icon_37.ico then run the patcher and patch your shell32.dll and your program icons should look like below.

startmenu.jpg

Icon_20.ico

Icon_37.ico

I happened to move the shell32.dll from %windows%\system32 to the input folder, and mistakenly I hit the Windows key on the keyboard opening the start menu, and my pc froze up. I rebooted and of course, it couldnt find the shell32.dll because I had moved it before. If you try to do Safe Mode when something like that happens to you, Safe Mode will not work for you, because shell32.dll is not there. What do I do now?

I use BartPE a lot and it comes with a plugin named A43 File Management and IMO, it is a great utility. I did all my changes without using Safe Mode. I created the BartPE ISO, then boot from it and used A43. It is like using Windows Explorer, but you are outside the windows platform.

:D

True, but everybody makes mistakes. It doesn't hurt me. I know how to manage Windows when it crashes, well at least I'm getting better. :p

I just wanted to present my problem in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Hmm... I would've editted, but there wasn't a choice to...  However, it still didn't work :(  I still couldn't replace the two files with the modified versions via safemode.

From safe mode:

Cut n Paste the original files to the desktop and then move the modified files in their place. Rename the extension to .bak on the original files and then reboot. Don't forget to save your original files in a safe place.

OK. I think I got everything going good. Only thing is, I don't have iexplorer.exe in my windows/system32 like the readme says it should be... Don't know, but otherwise I modified every other file and I copied the originals into the input folder, so those should also be able to serve as backups, right?

Yea, just save the files in the input folder. iexplore.exe should be located in the Internet Explorer folder in Program Files.

You might have to rebuild your icon cache to get all the new icons showing. I know I have too.

    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for seven more games as discounts continue by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There's a brand-new update rolling out to Nvidia's GeForce NOW streaming service, and like every week, that means more games have received support on the platform. This week's drop has additions like Aphelion and Pro Cycling Manager 26 attached to it. Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active too. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Moreover, Nvidia reiterated that support for GOG single sign-in and game library is incoming this summer, joining stores like Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, and Xbox. "Connect supported game store accounts and stream titles with GeForce RTX power. Games that include cloud-save functionality help keep progress intact across devices," added the company. "Start a game on one screen, pick up where playtime left off on another, and spend less time managing installs and storage space." Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Embers of the Uncrowned Demo (New release on Steam, available 13) Pro Cycling Manager 26 (New release on Steam, available June 15) Aphelion (Steam) Citizen Sleeper (Epic Game Store, Free from June 18-25) Megastore Simulator (Steam) OPERATOR (Steam) Super Meat Boy 3D (Xbox, available on Game Pass) Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month, with extra time being purchasable in chunks.
