Presenting the new Neowin Logo

Recommended Posts

Well, i got bored and made a neowin logo from the "lite" logo. I think it looks pretty good, what do you think?

(in no way am i tryin to discredit the work of any graphics designers here, i just got bored and decided to make a logo)

It's not bad. Of course, it wouldn't really fit the mockup that well. lol Plus, Steve specifically requested the effect we're using. ;) Anyways, I'm sure you'll all be pleased when you see the completed site. :D

Bleh, I'm not really all that impressed by it to be honest. I've been at Neowin for every logo they've ever had, and I'm really getting tired of all this big bubbly, shiney, reflective stuff. You'd think Neowin would know better than a lot of sites with the popularity of the skins section here, that the big shiney style is out, and smooth colors and shading are what people like now.

If you want to see a site that was recently designed that looks REALLY good, just take a look at download.com. The colors may not be everyone's favorite, but I really like the style. Everything is smooth and simple.

FlishFun: I actually find your comparison the amount of change in the Neowin logo vs the Vista logo ironic considering the Vista flag now has those smooth colors I spoke of and looks much better (in my opinion of course) than previous Windows flags.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. Thought I'd share it.

There really isnt MUCH difference...I like popsandthefamily's logo; its a bit more over the current one. The new one just looks like alot of people said PS filters and such. I can only hope it looks great on the new site.

I don't think my next question is worth a new topic so:

what is the color code from the midnight theme? if this is allowed to specified.

What do you mean... are you talking about the hex code of the actual midnight color?

You think? i took off the font bevel (didnt look right) and added just a drop shadow. Also, ive been experimenting with the PSD and i can make it have some sick looking color combo's.post-39454-1123871126.gif

Not bad but Id keep experimenting with that design, make it more different then the old one.

Don't really care what it looks like. How long do you sit and stare at a website logo? Personally I don't look at the logo. Why should I, I know I am on Neowin. Whatever design is the final will be loved by some and hated by others but it won't stop people visiting the site.

    • This makes me think of Dune for some reason.
    • I'm too old to return to the "good old days" when I was installing custom ROMs and tinkering with my devices - now I just want to turn it on and use it. I've read that banking and payment apps work on Murena /e/OS (I'll have to check the ones I use) and I also really want to support Fairphone 😉
