Presenting the new Neowin Logo

Recommended Posts

Again, that's just me, though it is unfortunate to hear you say with such authority that it IS the logo, no matter what we (the people who visit the site, and some of us, the people that help pay for the site) think.

Sorry to sound like that. lol It's coming down from a higher authority. :pinch:

Anyway, the whole site doesn't look like that. You'll just have to trust me when I say those who don't like the logo now, will probably like it when they see it in place. :)

Well, either way, I meant it to whoever made the definitive decision, even if it was Steve himself. I just think there isn't much point of posting bits and pieces of opinions don't matter. That said, most websites wouldn't ask either, so it's fine. I just don't think I will like it, but all that matters is that the person who runs the site likes it I guess right?

I think I may just go to stictly viewing the website in IE 7's RSS feed reader. That thing makes it look beautiful :)

I add another vote to Timan's first logo. I'm on the same side with Dazzla and other minorities that the new logo has too much bevel. I stand all for simplicity and cripse/clean look.

EDIT: seems like we're not minority anymore, more and more people dislike the new logo...

I believe ya...I can't wait to see the new revampe:yes:

and it's very blurry... Really looks like a Photoshop product... I'd have done in in vector instead

It'll be resized so the "bluriness" won't be so obtrusive.

Actualy Dazzla changed his mind after I showed him what it looked like in the context of the site. He's on my side now... bwa ha ha haaaa

I guess I also need to keep an open mind then, until I see the new site.

God Flish show us the site already!

Yeah, it's hard to imagine it, but it's being kept in the dark. Neobond originally wasn't going to reveal the logo till the end, either. For whatever reason, he just changed his mind this morning and told me "Post the logo to the masses!".

... Give or take 10%.

well, you know ;) it's not like im gonna be like "omgz teh logoz is teh badzor suxorz im not visiting anymore." i could care less what it looks like, and i know Flish is putting some damn hard work into this, but folks here still like to complain.

After all it's not like one is gonna sit there for eons gawking at the logo anyways, i dont see why folks are throwing up a fart about it.

Once its finished your gonna be in the forums mostly anyways, stop complaining and deal with it (Y)

We generally refer to such as opinions. I don't recal (now I haven't read every page, so I may be wrong) anyone saying "I'm not visiting the site anymore if that's the logo". Rather we are sharing what we think about the new logo. You sound like you're making a bigger deal about it than just about anyone else is heh, we just are trying to give our suggestions, whether they will be used or not is entirely up to the staff.

Oh, and either way Flish, I thank you for the work you have done so far. I know the new site puts it a little more into place (though I haven't seen it anytime recently). Don't get me wrong, nothing against anyone, just stating my opinion. Good job either way :)

^ It looks weak, old, two tone, and unoriginal.

Were going for a new look... not the same.

No offense to Timan... you do go great work, but I don't think that logo works in this case.

Sorry, but that is basically what I think of the official new one(No Offense!), Timan's is very cool looking. :D

Hey, that'd be neat for the "Apple" section.

I too thought your Neowin logo was Aquaish. I like it, but from what we have seen from Flish's image, it probably wouldn't fit with what they are doing.

I imagine if you saw it within the full page design, as Flish has said, you lot would change your mind.

Yeah. Sorta like when your friend hates this band, and then they hear some song on the radio and they're like WOW THIS SONG IS GREAT and then you tell them that it's by that band they hate, and then all of a sudden they don't like the song anymore.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
