Results for Tuesday 22nd November

A Bayern Munich 4 - 0 Rapid Vienna

A Juventus 1 - 0 Club Brugge

B Ajax 2 - 1 Sparta Prague

B FC Thun 0 - 1 Arsenal

C Panathinaikos 1 - 2 Udinese

C Barcelona 3 - 1 Werder Bremen

D Manchester United 0 - 0 Villarreal

D Lille 0 - 0 Benfica

In Group A tonight Bayern Munich got an easy 4-0 victory at the Allianz Arena against a lacklustre Rapid Vienna, goals from Sebastian Deisler, Ali Karimi and a Roy Makaay double sealing the win.

In the other Group A match in Turin Italian champions Juventus got a 1-0 victory against Club Brugge courtesy of a late Alessandro Del Piero goal in what wasn't the best match you'll ever see in a virtually empty Stadio Del Alpi.

To Group B now and Ajax marched into the next round with a 2-1 win at home to Sparta Prague, a double from Nigel De Jong enough, the Czech side getting a last minute consolation courtesy of Petras.

In the other match a controversial late penalty converted by Robert Pires gave Arsenal a 1-0 victory in Switzerland against FC Thun, Arsenal now have a club record of 6 straight European wins, and make it 5 out of 5 in this group stage.

In Group C Udinese make it through to the next round thanks to a 2-1 victory away to Panathinaikos, the Greeks had taken the lead thanks to a late first half penalty scored by Constantinos Charalimbides, but two goals in the last nine minutes from Iaquinta and Candela send the italians through in their first Champions League season.

At the Nou Camp Barcelona continue with their unbeaten run in this competition with a 3-1 win over Werder Bremen, Gabri, Ronaldinho and Henrik Larsson getting the goals for the Catalans, a first half penalty scored by Borowski the only consolation for the Germans.

Finally to Group D now and two disappointing games both ending goalless, with Manchester United and Villarreal unable to break each other down, and the same story in the Stade De France between Lille and Benfica. It will now go down to the final day, with only two points seperating all the teams.

Ha manutd drew with villareal, crap teams these days. And by the way Arsenal is the only team in the champions league to have won every single games of theirs. They currently have 15 ponts after 5 matches, 3 x 5 = 15. Braaap. And this time pires never bluffed his penalty lol.

It's unbelievable isn't it. If he'd waited til after tonights games then maybe his statement would make sense. And no doubt we will hear it if Lyon fail to win LOL

And yeah you're right about Ronaldinho, another goal to add to THOSE 2 goals he scored against Real Madrid at the weekend. Amazin!

Thanks for that Simon (Y)

Results for Wednesday 23rd November

E Fenerbahce 0 - 4 Milan AC

E Schalke 04 3 - 0 PSV Eindhoven

F Rosenborg 1 - 1 Olympiakos

F Real Madrid 1 - 1 Lyon

G Liverpool 0 - 0 Real Betis

G Anderlecht 0 -2 Chelsea

H Internazionale 4 -0 Artmedia Bratislava

H FC Porto 1 - 1 Rangers

In Group E An amazing game in Fenerbahce saw Milan AC run out 4-0 winners, with Ukrainian striker Andrei Shevchenko scoring all 4 goals! They now top the group along with Schalke 04, who won 3-0 at home to PSV Eindhoven, Levan Kobiashvili scoring a hat-trick there, two of the goals were penalties. These results send Fenerbahce out of the tournament.

To Group F now and Rosenborg were held to a draw by bottom club Olympiakos, the Greeks taking the lead through Rivaldo in the first half, but a late equaliser from Helstad earned the home side a point.

In the other match Real Madrid and Lyon fought out a 1-1 draw, Jose Mari Gutierrez scoring late in the first half, but a John Carew equaliser keeps Lyon's unbeaten run intact. Olympiakos and Rosenborg are out.

In Group G Chelsea earned a 2-0 victory against Anderlecht in Belgium, Hernan Crespo and Ricardo Carvalho scoring early in the match to seal qualification to the next round.

Liverpool also through after their goalless draw against Real Betis at Anfield. The only thing to be decided in this group now is who finishes top.

Finally in Group H Internazionale ran out 4-0 winners in a once-again empty San Siro against Artmedia Bratislava, An Adriano hat-trick and an early Luis Figo goal send the Italians through.

But still all to play for as far as second place goes after Rangers grabbed a 1-1 draw away to FC Porto, Lisandro Lopez putting the Portuguese side in front on the hour mark, but a late equaliser from teenager Ross McCormack keeps the dream alive for Rangers.

Player of the night: Andrei Shevchenko, who becomes only the 5th player to score 4 goals in a European Cup match. His first goal was also his 50th in UEFA competition.

(and now we can safely say that Arsenal are the only team with a 100% record!)

    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
