Okay, I redownloaded Oct full version and have tried to run Autopatcher and every other program in the sub-folders and they all bring up the window:

"This program has encountered a problem and needs to close."

The screenshot I sent before is the details of the crash.

I am running XP Pro 2002 SP2.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on here?? It looks like every app that was compiled by the author is crashing.? The Windows Script and VB installer ran just fine.

Finally got it to work on the real Windows box, everything seems to run fine now. But I am still having an issue with getting it to launch in the Virtual PC Windows environment. Any clues?

BTW, thanks everyone for the help thus far.

Just updated my Windows XP SP2 copy with AutoPatcher XP October version and i must say my OS is already running faster, quite an impressive application.

Does it detect if any XP SP2 updates are installed already and not check them to be installed ?? or it over-writes them if already installed on a system ??

If it's released every month...do we need to re-install it entirely every month or there is some small update that updates it to the very latest version ??

All in all a totally awesome application put together :)

Yes, it does detect if an XP SP2 update is installed. If it is installed the item is colored blue. If the detection fails, then it will over-write that item if it's installed.

If it's released every month..

It's released every month

do we need to re-install it entirely every month?

That depends, if we have an update release then you only need the update release. In some cases we can't make an update, then you have to use the FULL or the LITE Release.

Like what!? Can u explain better!? Sry but im noob on this kind of things :s!

Gimmie a walkthrow on how i have to do it!

Download the FIX file located on Page 1. Run it and it will create the win9xnt folder in AutoPatcher. Then re-run AutoPatcher again.

@Helloo double click 'my computer' on your desktop. navigate to the C:\Program Files\autopatcher\win9xnt folder.

double click both of the files in the folder to install them.

once there both installed, re-run autopatcher. hopefully it should now work!

The bandwidth has been exhausted on this site.

I will have another mirror up shortly.

Another newbie question.  Is it possible to run Autopatcher from a cd or over the network, or do you have to install it first on every computer?

Once you have installed AutoPatcher on your HDD, you can burn it on a CD and use it....many....many....many.....times. Using it on a networkshare? I don't know. I don't have the experience with that at the moment.

I believe that using it from a network share works

Im on dialup and use a download manager to get the file over a couple

days. I spent roughly 8 hours getting about 80 megs of XP-Oct05-Full

using this link:

http://agentoddstar.com/AutoPatcher_XP_Oct05_ENU_Full.exe

went to resume the download and this is the new link:

http://agentoddstar.com/AP_XP_Oct2005_Full.exe

and the old was unavailable and no matter what I did I couldnt get to original

file to resume with the new link regardless of how I renamed it.

586684074[/snapback]

Update: This mirror is a joke. Is it funny for this guy to change links on a regular

basis-it happened again. I got 156 of 176 megs and once again this is the message

I get:

"Not Found

The requested URL /AP_XP_Oct2005_Full.exe was not found on this server."

This is now 230 megs downloaded and still no APXPOct2005Full. I dont know

why but my download manager wont let me rename an existing download and

"resume" from another link so Im screwed once again.

He even decided to change the link to his main page from just a couple days

ago. http://agentoddstar.com/

This is the message when you click the link above:

"Thanks for DDOSing us!

The Downloads are now located in the odddown folder... Which would be http://agentoddstar.com/odddown

This prevents the bots from steling our bandwidth for a little while until we find

a more feasible solution!"

Even the new link when clicked says the files arent even on the server:

Link to main page: http://agentoddstar.com/odddown

Link to file: http://agentoddstar.com/AP_XP_Oct2005_Full.exe

Message about file:

"Not Found

The requested URL /AP_XP_Oct2005_Full.exe was not found on this server."

If this is a "bandwidth" thing I understand and can wait to resume later but

no mention of this.

^ frozencpu is actually doing us a great favour providing us with those links, and is pretty much acting as our main mirror now. the reason he's changing the file names is because people are direct linking from other sites, so he's trying to provent it happening.

im sorry your having a hard time downloading from him.

one thing you might want to try is selecting the new download, and seeing if your download manager will allow you to save it under a different name - the same name as the previous download. there might be a slim chance it will be able to resume.

the ideal solution though would be to use the bit-torrent download.

all you need is to install a small bit-torrent download manager.

the great thing about bit torrent is that the more people that are downloading a file, the less bandwidth is needed and the faster the download speeds wil be, because at the same time your downloading, bit torrent utilises your connections upload bandwidth to share the bits of the file youve already got, so everyone downloading is also sharing.

the renaming of files should never be an issue, and theres full hash checking of the files to check for corruption!

TheBlazingAngel,

Thanks for understanding the plight of dialup. Im not sure how exactly I accomplished

it but I was able to use an alternate link to resume an existing download but I dont

remember exactly of the 3 files my DL manager creates I needed to change but I

eventually figured it out.

The file completed and the checksum checked, I added the module fix, and patched

once again flawlessly with this great tool thanks to the AP Team and the great

mirrors offering their bandwidth......

Sorry for the ""RANT"" in the previous posts but with a dialup connection of

31.2 and an average DL speed of 3.2 Kpbs it gets really annoying at times

waiting for hours or even days to simply use my pc and surf the internet safely...

Mike!!
