  1. 1. Do you maximize your windows?

    • I always maximize and I rarely multitask. One program full screen.

    • When I multitask, I switch from one maximized screen to another.

    • I maximize only "important" applications.

    • I accept whatever screen size the program defaults to.

    • I use a combination of maximized and non-maximized windows.

    • I only use the smallest possible windows so I can see my desktop.

    • I use multiple monitors to maximize my work area for one program.

i maximise all my windows even msn messenger conversations and especially explorer windows (even when constantly switching from one folder to another) and switch between them. even though i have plently of room with my 1280 x 1024 screen i always maximise. for some reason i can't stand using a computer without maximising all windows.

I chose "When I multitask, I switch from one maximized screen to another. "

Can I ask, did this thread come about simply due to curosity or does it serve some purpose?

Someone said that MS Office was superior on OS/X (compared to Windows) because it did not open everything maximized by default.

"I use a combination of maximized and non-maximized windows."

I don't maximize a MSN convo or Explorer, but I do maximize firefox

Same here...

If I had a bigger monitor and could work at a high resolution I might not maximise so many windows though.

On my laptop with its tiny 1024x788 limited display I used maximized windows, but on my 20” widescreen iMac I size windows accordingly and have various programs on screen at the same time.

I used to but got sick of it, so on my 18" LCD and my laptop's 15" widescreen I just keep Firefox in the middle with Miranda on the right and Winamp/misc below it.

I hate restored windows :p Dunno why ... and I always minimze every window (when multitasking) except the one I'm using ... again I don't have a specific reason for this.

I don't maximize anything.

I used to. Then I introduced myself to OS X, and it has changed my computing habits. I actually get annoyed when people around me maximize (especially on my computers). Its such a windows cliche to MAXIMIZE the funk out of everything.

I make firefox fullscreen (F11) when I'm not using any other application, but I wouldn't maximize it.

Two monitors, both have programs currently maximized on each (firefox and OpenOffice writer). I maximize every thing that can be, for the most part. Steam, xfire, trillian, winamp, stuff like those never get maximized, they use up only the amount of space necessary to see what is going on. Itunes gets maximized, cuz I have a lot of music and I want to see as many songs at once as possible. I dual boot fedora core 4 x86_64, everything gets maxed there too.

On campus the biology computer lab is mac OSX, and it drives me completely nuts, no task bar, stuff is not easily maximized. I spend more time arranging windows, so that they are easily accessed when I am multitasking, than I do actually getting stuff accomplished.

I spend alot of time writing reviews/abstracts of scientific articles so I need to have a word processor, adobe acrobat, and firefox open at once. And I need to be able to read as much at once as possible from the browser and pdf reader for the sake of efficiency (it takes enough time as it is).
