6) When i double click the AutoPatcher shortcut nothing happens

Go to: C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\tools, run 'AutoPatcher Module Editor.exe' and close it - next run autopatcher.

If that doesn't help, copy comdlg32.ocx from the AutoPatcher \bin folder to c:\windows\system32 (overwrite existing file if there is one).

I've tried this.. I've tried creating another login with.. both are normal characters.. still nothing..

I really wanna get this to work on my Windows XP sp2 machine as I do not connect that one to the net or the network..

After messin around for a while I finally got it.. First I tried it in windows safe mode... It worked but could not access the windows installer service.. So that told me that some software that was running in normal mode was preventing autopatcher from running.. So I went into normal mode and ended all of the process the wern't required for windows to run.. still no go..

Finnaly, I restarted and clicked on AutoPatcher the first second i could see the desktop.. IT WORKED!!! I had beat whatever was gonna load and cause it not to work..

It's a quit silly method but works. Hope this helps someone.

All of the current releases (Except x64 and Vista) are using AutoPatcher 5.1.

There is no "full update" file, what you have is simply an update.

You will need the November Full, December Update and January Update files and install them in order :)

Hey, there...

I've just recently installed AP XP. I installed the Nov 06 FULL version and everything ran great. I then installed the DEC 06, JAN 07 and FEB 07 updates and now I'm getting "Abnormal Program Termination" errors on various different applications. by various I mean varied, from Half-life 2: SOURCE to Daemon tools to Encarta 2003.

I didn't run any programs in between running the Dec 06 and feb 07 updates, just rebooted at the end of each update.

I have tried disabling windows defender and the windows firewall. I've also run the tweak undo tool but to no avail. Please help.

Thanks.

Installing from from clean format, do I need Jan 07 & Dec 06 updates with Nov 06 Full & Feb 07 updates to have completely updated XP installation?

Of course! You must install in correct order: Nov06 Full/Lite + Dec06 Update + Jan07 Update + Feb07 Update.

I'have a Autopatcher_april2004 release,Extracted it to some other drive other than host os, i just did a clean format & tried it before running Nov'06,Dec'06 & etc

I got a an error,"Language Translation" something like this, I read all language translation documents

But i think they r for newer releases of autopatcher? I tried changing LCID code but earlier in that release documentation it was written to change it from like english"ENU" to german "DEU".so that trick didnt work.I tried changing system language & regional settings, still the same prob.

Can u tell me how to start it frm begining,or shall i continue now from Nov'06,Dec'06 releases?

Hi

I have downloaded and installed AutoPatcher_XP_Nov06_ENU_Full.exe. Everytime I run it, after selecting the items to install, when I click the "Update" button I get a Run-time error '5'.

Things I've already tried (and have not worked):

- Searching this site for answer :-)

- Searching the WEB

- Rebooting

- Uninstall, reboot, re-install

- Clean up temporary files/directories

- Run RegClean

- Turn off firewall and virus scanner

- Changed directory to G:\Autoatcher (to ensure no spaces in the path)

Thanks

Barry

I tried both of the option below with no success :-(

Any other idears?

Thanks

Barry

@Barry G Kruyssen, try copying files in C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\bin to C:\Windows\System32, and or running files in C:\program Files\AutoPatcher\win9xnt

marcelo verdura, por favor, verifique o md5 do arquivo. se estiver corrompido, este tipo de inconveniente pode ocorrer. o md5 correto ? este: b3c677007984f66d40753a89934e416b

eu gosto desta ferramenta para testar md5:

http://www.nero.com/enu/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html

sap:

marcelo verdura, please check md5 of that file. if it is corrupted in any way, this sort of thing can happend. the md5 for this file should be this: b3c677007984f66d40753a89934e416b

i like of this tool to chek md5:

http://www.nero.com/enu/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html

it's free and pretty easy to run.

if the file that you have doesn't match you will need download it again. there's another http mirror fot that, but i don't know if it's alive yet. there's another ones at demonid/mininova and other trackers. there's one e2k mirror too.

but in a few days, a new full version will arrive. it's based on AP 5.6 and pt-br is already running fine, so, you may wait a few more days.

ps: there's just a few guys that speak portuguese in here, so...

edit: damm keyboard...

Ol?,

Depois de rodar o AutoPatcher WXP Jan#2007 BR o compartilhamento de arquivos de meu computador deixou de ser acessado por outros computadores do grupo de trabalho. Apenas a impressora ? acess?vel. Algu?m saberia dizer qual ? a atualiza??o que prejudicou o compartilhamento?

Tentei o procedimento de desfazer o Tweak IPC Security, como diz no in?cio deste forum, mas n?o resolveu.

Obrigado.

Hello. I've downloaded the Full January Pack PL, installed it and the whole thing worked great.

BUT - after I downloaded and installed the February Update and chose to run autopatcher after the installation, nothing happened. Ok, so I thought - let's just run it manually. When I run the .exe file, an error window popped up, saying: "C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\AutoPatcher.exe is not a proper Win 32 application".

Any ideas, what can I do? I downloaded/installed it 3 times, always get the same thing. Oh, I've also downloaded the "Run-time-error_fix.exe" but it didn't solve my problem. Any help would be appreciated ^^'

    • Direct messaging is finally making its way to Threads by David Uzondu Meta has announced it will finally begin testing direct messages on Threads, claiming that it was a "top request" since the platform's big splash in July 2023. This has been a massive pain point for users. For nearly a year, attempting to have a private conversation meant awkwardly fumbling over to a linked Instagram account, which for some people, completely killed the experience of actually using the app. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri acknowledged this, stating "we know how important messaging is" to the platform's mission. It makes sense; a social network without a private messaging feature feels incomplete, especially when it is trying to supplant X. The initial test for this overdue feature is now rolling out to a limited number of people in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Argentina, with a wider release planned for later. For serious users and creators who hate having to send people to other apps like Instagram for DMs, this is fantastic news. For others, it's just one more inbox to check. Users included in the test will spot a new envelope icon on the main navigation bar, located at the bottom on mobile and on the left-side menu on the desktop site. The company, in typical fashion, has not offered a concrete timeline on when everyone else gets access, only saying it will expand "soon". In related news, Threads recently migrated its web presence from the old threads.net address to the much cleaner threads.com domain. That old domain was a leftover from the launch because Meta did not actually own the .com version, which was later scooped up. This change came alongside a cluster of other improvements to the web app, including a pop-up post composer that follows you as you scroll and provides easier access to your saved and liked posts.

    • OpenAI to use Google Cloud despite rivalry, diversifying beyond Microsoft by Paul Hill To help it meet its massive computing demands for training and deploying AI models, OpenAI is looking into a surprising partnership with Google Cloud to use its services. It was widely seen that OpenAI was Google’s biggest threat, but this deal puts an end to the idea that the pair are purely competing. The two companies haven’t made any public announcement about the deal but a source speaking to Reuters claimed that talks had been ongoing for a few months before a deal was finalized in May. Notably, such a deal would see OpenAI expand its compute sources beyond Microsoft Azure. Microsoft had arrangements in place with OpenAI since 2019 that gave it the exclusive right to build new computing infrastructure for the startup. This limitation was loosened earlier this year with the announcement of Project Stargate. OpenAI is now allowed to look elsewhere for compute if Microsoft is unable to meet the demand. A win for Google Cloud, a challenge for Google's AI strategy The deal will see Google Cloud supply computing capacity for OpenAI’s AI model training and inference. This is a big win for Google’s Cloud unit because OpenAI is a massive name in AI and it lends credence to Google’s cloud offering. It also justifies Google Cloud’s expansion of its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for external use. On the back of the news, Alphabet’s stock price rose 2.1%, while Microsoft’s sank 0.6%, showing investors think it’s a good move for Google too. While many end users don’t interact with Google Cloud the same way they do with something like Android or Chrome, Cloud is actually a huge part of Google’s business. In 2024, it comprised $43 billion (12%) of Alphabet’s total revenue. With OpenAI as a customer, this figure could rise even more given the massive amounts of compute OpenAI needs. By leveraging Google’s services, it will also give OpenAI access to the search giant’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). Unlike GPUs, these chips are specifically designed to handle the kinds of calculations that are most common in AI and machine learning, leading to greater efficiency. Google’s expansion of these chips to external customers has already helped it attract business from Anthropic and Safe Superintelligence. While Google will happily take OpenAI’s money, it needs to tread carefully giving compute power to a rival, which will only make OpenAI more of a threat to Google’s search business. Specifically, it’ll need to manage how resources are allocated between Google’s own AI projects and its cloud customers. Another issue is that Google has been struggling to keep up with the overall demand for cloud computing, even with its own TPUs, according to its Chief Financial Officer in April. By giving access to OpenAI, it means even more pressure. Hopefully, this will be short lived as companies compete to build out capacity to attract customers. OpenAI's push for compute independence Back in 2019 when Microsoft became OpenAI’s exclusive cloud partner in exchange for $1 billion, the AI landscape was much different. End users wouldn’t have access to ChatGPT for another 3 years and the rate of development of new models was less ferocious than it is today. As OpenAI’s compute needs evolve, its relationship with Microsoft has had to evolve too, including this deal with Google and the Stargate infrastructure program. Reuters said that OpenAI’s annualized run rate (the amount they’ll earn in one year at its current pace) had surged to $10 billion, which highlights its explosive growth and need for more resources than Microsoft alone can offer. To make itself more independent, OpenAI has also signed deals worth billions of dollars with CoreWeave, another cloud compute provider, and it is nearing the finalization of the design of its first in-house chip, which could reduce its dependency on external hardware providers altogether.
