i must not have been clear......sorry......im wanting to basicly make a media center.....my graphics card does support dvi but im thinking big

ive seen an acer monitor thats a 19inch wide screen for 175, how naff is it going to be?

im thinking about maybe a 32inch or maybe 42 depending on price tft to use as tv and do away with my 22inch monitor and tv in my room.

as for the turntables...i want to "cash in" before its too late. i could get them anytime but ive come to the realisation that there like a 40 yearold buying starwars figures due to missing out as a young 'en. i dont need them and there an impractical waste of money

Someone can explain me what is that thing on the right with blue display? i've seen it on many desks here, but i haven't understood what is yet :D

it is the control pod for the logitech Z5500 5.1 speakers.

whats that desk like youve got? ive seen it in the catalogue but is it up to much, ie is it as good as it looks in the pics, or does it feel like its going to fall appart?

mite be the desk for me, if anyone else knows where i can get a nice glass topped desk from whack up a post

Here's mine. Normally I have my dual moniters on my desk, but lately I've been moving my main one to the floor sometimes and using the 2nd one just for foobar. That's 2 keyboards hooked up to it, redudnant I know. Blue LAN cable going out my window, down a story, into my dining room window, across two rooms and into a router. That's ghetto right there :D

You can see various other things, my Nintendo DS with Mario 64 and FFIV in it, my new Edgar Poe book, my hookah and waterbong, iriver etc. I'm quite comfortable in this room. I know it's unorganized, but it is clean. There's a difference. ;) I like my room how it is, many of the ones I see in this thread are far too sterile fo rmy liking. I enjoy having my walls crudely painted in black, then covered in various spray paintings. Stuff like that. :D

Why do you have such large speakers on your desktop? Hard of hearing? Can't imagine why you would want speakers so close to your ears...

id presume so he can have them on at a lower volume, yet be able to hear the music as well without pi**ing off the rest of his house?

he should have just gone for headphones tho

^everyone on here seems to have the ikea jerker desk

Yeah i got like the whole Jerker collection in my bedroom ^^

My working desk is top nutch tough. Got it from my sister-in-law's father.

Liking the silver matching my Antec P180

I really like that hotel style room ... congratz man. God wish my room was like that.

I lack the skills to design it and build it myself. Come to think of it ... I lack alot of skills :D

i think i have seen that acer monitor too. if i remember rightly its not true widescreen, its ratio is 16:10 and it should be 16:9. So it has a rather random resolution.

in general samsung is a great make for lcds though. try viewsonic and dell as well.

as for the tv, i think panasonic, lg and samsung are the main makes i have seen on here. also phillips are realy well priced in the uk.

i would probably getter a better gfx card anyways... it would pay off with super slick graphics

I think all WS monitors are 16:10. 16:9 is just for TVs.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
