[Shell Patcher] Tango Icons for Windows

Recommended Posts

vertigosity used to maintain an application skin database (http://vertigosity.benpbrown.com/?page=apps) including icons, but... "Removed items not unique to this site; I don't have the time to maintain an "application skin database," let alone do it well."

If someone can suggest an easy-to-use CMS for fulfilling this purpose (application skin + icon database + instructions for patching), then I'd be happy to set one up. (i.e. tango.benpbrown.com/apps or equivalent)

Hi,

I'm having problems with patching Openoffice. This occurred both in case of Ooo 2.1 and 2.2.

It's installed in D:\Program Files\Openoffice.org. Maybe the non-default path is the reason for the problem?

Any ideas as to how to perform the icon patching?

it's not with your nonstandard path... it's broken. I didn't notice it because I didn't test it on a clean install in a VM, and I was running modded files installed by an intermediate build where things did work (I had it hard-coded it to the registry path for 2.1 for a bit), but yeah, it's broken, it's not the User's fault, and I'll try to find an excuse to put out a quickie update for April.
In PNG, ICO SVG perhaps?

For myself, PNGs and ICOs would be a definite. I've yet to crack open InkScape (being an old man stuck in my ways :p) but once I finally take the plunge, I'll be able to include SVGs as well.

Thanks a lot

by the way,

Anybody feeling like making an icon for the opensource MultiIM Miranda ?

Here's a quick one for Miranda in all of its Tango glory. :) The 32x32 pixel icon and down don't include the speech balloon. I felt it crowded the icon too much.

Even though I don't really have the right to talk Tango anymore, I love the icons I'm seeing and add my vote (for what it is worth) to the Wiki idea.

Also, is everyone aware that the entire GTK+ Tango set has been redone? The Tango Friday people got it all done in one night. They look interesting. A little more shine and polish and while I like some of the older icons better, these are nice as well. I guess now I have a reason for updating my Firefox skins. Anywho, I can't seem to find the new icons in the CVS or anywhere else. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Yeah I also saw that, hopefully they can be included in the next update

no plans for tango-vista?
I've got no plans to buy a copy of Vista, or even to download it and slmgr the heck out of it.

They look neat, but I'm not entirely sure how I'd spin a subskin out of it. It's pretty likely that bits and pieces of them will show up here and there, though. Check [gnome-icon-theme-extras] for source (you'll have to backtrack to revision 83, they got deleted after being packaged up and sent off to the GTK people) - actually, check it out anyways, they've got a few mobile devices and gaming console related things up there as well, I'm sure somebody here would be interested. The Real Tango People have been doing a good job of tweaking and refining their style to get better consistency, realism, scalability, and of course, to make me feel totally inadequate every time I open Inkscape:pp

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.

    • Trillion dollar Microsoft has to reduce spending by hurting more people. Good job Microsoft. Good Job Asha.
