768 MB RAM actually, and the iMac is ordered now. Can't wait. Anyone got any advice for getting an iMac hooked up to the net in a scenario like this?

Downstairs: Dell with Windows XP connected through ethernet to a surfboard cable modem downstairs as well.

Upstairs: iMac.

[by the way, I didn't edit the above post because I don't see "Edit" for some reason, maybe its because I quick replied or something.]

i have my PeeCee running my DSL Connection, and my Cube just sharing it. Simply enable the sharing in your XP Connection Properties, then on your iMac, goto Network Settings. Define your LAN Settings, and add in the PeeCee's IP in the Router Box. i too included my ISP's DNS Address(es)

Here's a Screen Cap of my ethernet Properties...

Hope that Shed's the appropriate light on the subject! ... it really is a piece of cake, it'll be a breeze for ya! ;)

How long til you get your iMac? .. i nearly got one, in some respects, maybe i wish i had ... but hey! :D

Thanks, I'll try to do that, providing I don't run into a "mental block" along the way. And the mac should be here by next friday according to MacMall, it was a sweet deal, all that for about 1,900 dollars including S/H.

A few minutes ago it arrived, I'm so excited! Now I just have to find out what networking equipment I'm going to need to purchase to give my iMac internet upstairs wirelessly when the cable modem is connected downstairs to the Dell (going to need to be able to provide internet access to both, preferably wirelessly)

I'm going to receive my first Powerbook G4 12" tomorrow.

yes, I'm one of the (many? few?) who has decided to "switch". I needed a notebook, I decided to try and jump on Apple's wagon. Let's see how it'll develop! ;)

(though I'm quite positive I won't have any trouble... at least, hope so!! he he)
