PLEASE em3, make something for the desolate Vista's VS scene too.

Oh I so do support that call. And I'd call every single one of the old school skinners and themers out there which have stopped. KOL, flyakite, em here, bubbabyte (or so), I don't even remember them. It's a shame there are only modded Aero's around and with modded I mean added transparency or changed font colors :( I miss the good old days...

Making skins for Vista is harder then making one for XP. There isn't a Stylebuilder for Vista yet and all the Aero mods are reshacked. That's why there are always a few things edited.

KoL hasn't stopped making skins btw, he's just really busy with his personal life. He posted that on deviantART. em3 hasn't stopped either which you can read on the 1st page of this thread.

I know that with more possibilities the work which has to be done quadruples or so. It all is PNG now (if I understood right), you have to think of transparency, all the effects I guess have to be redone specifically for/in the design of the skin. As a quick example the animated progressbar, I don't even wanna know how much more effort you can/have to put in a nicely done, decent new one.

Doesn't make me stop wishing for cool Vista stuff. Look at it that way: I haven't got any money, yet nothing's gonna stop me from wanting a German; a Merc, Beemer, maybe Audi of some sort :p

The hole skinning engine is different. You need a hexeditor to change the skin colors. And you have to figure out which number is which image inside the file. That's quiete hard and annoying without stylebuilder.

Ofcrouse you can wish for cool Vista stuff. But you'll have to wait for some time to get other skins then Aero :p

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
