[OFFICIAL] X360 Dashboard/Game Updates

Recommended Posts

I am assuming that unless I click sign up for messenger on the 360 (I already use messenger on my pc) that no one will see my status?

Should I get the sign up for messenger box?

Also, what are the reference levels? There are 3 but I don't know that each does.

What is this reference level in the display settings. Don't really understand what it does... I just know expanded looks a hell of a lot better on my monitor.

as far as I know it was added so that users who are getting a washed out colour experience with the VGA cable can adjust some settings to get a better picture.

Dark made a post about it but i guess we could just merge it with this thread.....

Seems it's just a stability thing:

That's from January of 2006

When will people learn to read and understand that news from 1.3 years ago is not news.

I don't know about anybody else, but these reference level settings made a huge difference for me (40" Samsung LCD, HDMI, 720p).

And I know it's just a little thing, but the orange for the Marketplace blade is perfect! It's vibrant, but not too bright. It looks great.

Overall, this is a great update so far.

I hope this doesn?t sound like a stupid question but how do remove your msn email once you have added it on the 360?

I?ve removed my password but then whenever I turn the Xbox on it pops up saying it can?t sign in to msn.

Yep setting reference levels to expanded on my 40" inch Sony Bravia LCD made things a lot more vibrant using the VGA connection. It looked a bit washed out before compared to using component connection. Am very happy now I can have upscaled DVDs and vibrant colours :)

Can't use Live Messenger on a "Child Account", even though I'm 18 - Christ.

Well...4,000 was a lot for me :D

I would have thought MS would be able to make child accounts go to normal accounts when that person turns 18 lol.

I can accept MS putting in there for childrens safety, but since you only have to be 13 to use WLM legally on PC, why is this any different. I think MS should make it so there's a parental control option for it, and not just blanket not allow it for under 18's.

I installed the update and afterward fired up Catan... the game froze in the first few seconds and I had to restart the 360. Tried playing Gears of War, got a bunch of strange green checkerboard patterns and screeching noises. After the 2nd restart the console wouldn't display anything, and every time after that it displayed 3 red rings no matter what I did.

I waited maybe 30 minutes, turned the 360 on, and haven't had any problems so far (although haven't had time to test thoroughly)... Does this mean my 360's days are numbered?

Mmm... Downloaded the Crackdown packs (both) and trying to start Crackdown with them but it says the contents are either invalid or corrupted. Anyone else having this problem? I re-downloaded them but still not able to get them to work. :|

Ditto.

I made the post as soon as I saw them up. But dammit they don't work. Thanks Microsoft!

Edit: Okay it looks like deleting the download, clearing my 360's cache, and the downloading again got Free-for-All working. Haven't bought the other pack yet.

Yeah, looks like after deleting the past download and re-downloading it seems to work. Now time to enjoy some Crackdown.

    • Are they marketed as an entry into astronomy or astrophotography? I do astrophotography. With big rigs, lots of computers, cables and headaches. I love it. And by learning this ridiculously complex hobby, I’ve learned about the objects I’m shooting. Astronomy followed from photography.
    • Microsoft confirms Recycle Bin bug across all versions of Windows by Usama Jawad A couple of days ago, we reported that the latest Patch Tuesday update has seemingly resulted in a lot of issues for many users, including OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, and BSODs. Although Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these bugs, it has confirmed another, relatively smaller issue across all supported versions of Windows. In an update on its Windows Release Health Dashboard, Microsoft has confirmed that after installing June's Patch Tuesday update (KB5094126), you'll experience unexpected behavior when leveraging Recycle Bin. Basically, when you attempt to delete an item from the Recycle Bin, the confirm dialog will show you the internal file name of that content rather than the actual name. For example, the file may be named abc.png, but the confirm dialog will ask if you're sure that you want to permanently delete $Rxxxxx.png from the Recycle Bin. This is pretty much it for the scope of the bug itself; it just displays the wrong name in the confirm dialog. The correct name will be shown in the list view of the Recycle Bin and if you restore the file, it will return with the correct name as well. This issue affects pretty much all supported versions of Windows client and server, including: Client: Windows 11, version 26H1; Windows 11, version 25H2; Windows 11, version 24H2; Windows 11, version 23H2; Windows 10, version 22H2; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 Server: Windows Server 2025; Windows Server 2022; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012 As things currently stand, Microsoft is working on a concrete solution that will be released in a "future" Windows update. It remains to be seen if the firm will wait till the next Patch Tuesday or roll out an out-of-band (OOB) fix. The good news is that commercial customers can deploy a workaround right now, but they will have to reach out to Microsoft Support for Business for additional details.
    • They said by this time everyone will have flying cars. WELL...
    • A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. Maybe not as we now know that time can flow backwards.
    • Of course. Simply reverse the polarity.
