ROFL!!

I got invited to this, downloaded the first build, got bored after 2 minutes then switched back to 7.0.

But 7.0 was causing my problems, so I switched to miranda and now i'm NEVER going back.

Microsoft have ****ed up this build, hopefully they'll keep it like this :p

To me it looks like they are getting ready for Areo!

I made this rough and ready mockup to show what i mean.

Wow, that looks amazing.

NEway, I really don't like the look of this new version at all. I am currently using the original beta and think that it looks absolutely great - the new version just seems very amateur, whilst the colouring is particular drab. I liked the idea of the orange header as it added some much needed contrast and divides up the space well to make it more accessible and easier to use.

I think that looks really nice. I can see where Microsoft are trying to take MSN Messenger but this refresh seems like a backward step. Also, you've got to take into account that IM programs are most used by teens - the old version had a good balance between the functionality and clean style liked by adults, with the colourful interface and images liked by teens... I think this new version actually does a disservice to both groups and I really don't understand why they've made these changes.

So using Miranda you know what the new version is like then do you?

If you don't use, want to use, want to be invited, or want to care about MSN / WLM, then why bother posting. Very trollish thing to do.

This has got to be the most horrible instant messaging programme ever made. I'm ashamed of Microsoft and the developers of WLM.

On a lighter note, at least we aren't forced to update. =D

I'm gonna stick with the WLM version I have now (I forgot what version number)... and not upgrade until they sort themselves out.

I pray this is a hoax, or an early April fools joke :p

looks terrible everything looks so messed up the older build looks good nice but the new one just plain bad, only good thing so far its that it use less ram and connect faster but thats all lets see if a a-patch can fix what microsoft cant do in this build.

i seriously hope someone at microsoft is reading this. So far the whole "live" thing including msn 8 and the new webmail is horrible. Sort it out Microsoft and ffs dump the "live" bit because there is nothing live about it

Can people vote on these please?

edit:

Live is a series of ideas that Ms are bringing out, this is part of it, hence Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Safety Center, Windows Mobile Live..

Also its live as your chatting to people in real time....

This is too disgusting for words.

I decided to upgrade, contrary to my previous post, and this is the most retched, disgusting thing to ever come out of Microsoft.

This is.... Blah I'm going back to 8.0.365. This is bloody aweful.

I'm going to call this 'A demented clone of 7.5'.

Edit: Oh. My. God. The options menu!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only have we got the tiny name box, it has the moticons being shown in it!!!!!!! REH!!!!!! ffs what have they done!!!!!

    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
    • If the drive/memory is soldered to the board, which it probably is, then it's a no from me
