People complain, it gets looked into (and even fixed), but people just look for something else to complain about.:shiftyninja::

Yeh god knows why Microsoft think it should still be a BETA:pinch::

from the a-patched screenies, it looks good, hopefully it will be rolled out to the other testers soon

Doesn't crash here (b27 of apatch)

I'm not saying it's Apatch that MAKES it crash but it has been crashing for a large number of people in this thread. Exception errors or whatever they are just come out of nowhere. That is the only issue I have with this build.

NOW that I have wlm :) - i think its really ugly.. needs serious improvement

i agree, even the first one looked better then this, even though it looked like it was for bunch of middle school students and freshmens. it stilled looked a bit better then thius one.

Okay okay I'm sort of freaking out now. I just downloaded the refresh and my first reaction was "did my graphics card just explode?".

What in the world have they done to the UI? Even the colourful design was better. This is just... Wtf?

I think they designed this with Vista in mind, because it looks like absolute ass on XP. I mean the only thing saving it at this point is changing the default colour from black to grey. *shudders and contemplates entering feedback on the UI*.

On a side note: This post is completely ignoring the various changes to anything but the UI. I know there are nice fixes, but this is just about the UI and nothing more.

Why did Microsoft decide to abandon the Candy look of 362?

I liked that look. The only thing that ****ed me off was the mouse hovering thing (which I know you can turn off, but I also wanted to see the person's dp without taking too much space on the contact list)

I'm curious what the next build'll look like

Is anyone else seeing the systray icons of version 7.5 or older? I see the new fat green/light green man when it's logging in and when I'm receving mail (the animations) but when I'm signed in, away/busy, or "offiline mode" it shows the old-style icons.

fut the whuck?

How do you go about to change the background for the contact list? I've seen some pictures here where people have done it. Any help? Also if you put the picture as the background, will it stretch according to how big your contact list is or not?

Plz, i too would like to know how this is done...Any one advise?

TIA

Changing the background of your Contact List;

Create a .gif image named lvback.gif and paste it into your MSN Messenger directory C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger. You can have whatever picture you want keeping in mind that it will resize to fit the contact list. I have made a simple gradient which I think works the best as you can see below. Please feel free to use this image :)

You know what, I'm doing a bit of a back flip on my position with WLM refresh. If you keep it with the default colour and put a nice background on it and a-patch it's ass sideways it looks quite nice.

Where can i get that bg? Cheers.

And is that winFX on XP? Ta

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
    • I have been using Firefox for years.
    • I'd trust open source stuff on github more then closed source binaries from Microsoft.
