Latest Japanese Hardware Sales

Recommended Posts

Doesn't everyone in Japan own a PS2 by now, i mean honestly why are so many still being sold. Is it people replacing their broken ones, or just buying them for the sake of keeping sony ahead, I can't understand it

A lot of those are exported to China and the rest of Asia. In a way, Japanese console sales aren't very accurate because a lot of consoles get exported from there.

very doubtful, square released an rpg for the 360 a while ago and it didnt help at all

Uhh are you referring to FF XI? A several year-old game that was poorly ported?

Blue Dragon will help. And the launch of the PS3 will help as well, as Japanese gamers find it's not all it was cracked up to be.

I don't know about blue dragon. They are not advertising it on TV as much as they should.

Every second ad is a Wii and DSL ad, and I see playbeyond ads from time to time, but no 360 ads.

They show sporadic DOA ads late at night :) but thats about it.

At this rate, only hard core gamers will know about the 360.

I really don't understand MS's strategy in Japan. They are not even trying.

They need to buy more ad time, and show A LOT OF GOW because that game will impress everyone.

I was surprised to see you say GOW, but I guess Resistance is selling pretty well over there. Maybe you're right.

Blue Dragon has been in the Top 3 in Famitsu's Most Wanted list for a few weeks, so they're getting the word out somehow. I would think they'd have the game all over TV by now since its release is in a couple of weeks. Microsoft better get on the ball if they still care about the Japanese market.

360 receives a boost in sales thanks to DOAX2.

Sony is still struggling to ship PS3 units to Japan.

DS Lite (started selling March 2006) finally outsells GBA SP (started selling February 2003) this week in total sales. That's more units sold in around 1/4 the time.

Wii should be on the charts next week.
