leoj15, switch OS Identifier code back to server so you can get Windows Update working fine again (tried)

the_dark_son, are you using corp version as program reported? I think I added the solution into the program regarding entering safemode and switch OS Identifier back to server.

Yeah it is a Corp version but its legal. I dont do pirated software. Yes you did add changing back the identifier and I did as you said and it worked but when I tried to add anything from the conversion pack like Games, System Restore, and the user accounts manager, not touching the shell stuff it would change the OS identifier and I would get that problem with activation.

why cant i edit my posts?, well i think im back to windows XP:

*Cuz the 14 Days Left to Activate is getting me crazy, tryed 3 diferents cracks, patch etc, but they doesnt work.

*Problems Installing some Programs and plugins

*i dunn feel much diference betwen Xp and 2003 after converting it to Xp, i think the diference is just the kernel.

*Isnt true that games runs faster on 2003, it was very laggy compared to XP

*Its stable but Sp2 its really stable for me

*In Fact is same Thing But Most Complex, "Microsoft Windows XP Professional", "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Corporate WorkStation"

I really like ur Job Man, keep it up i downloaded Windows 2003 Just to see how it worked,i added ur site to favorites, maybe u can make a kernel patcher or something dunno so u can just update the kernel.

You didn't get the right ones and no crack/warez discussion.

Problems Installing some Programs and plugins

Learn to use XP Compatibility mode in properties or manual driver installation

You're wrong when it comes to networking and kernel is major priority for conversion

Its stable but Sp2 its really stable for me

Many proved 2k3sp1 is better than xpsp2 for kernel, performance and reliability (and sp2 for 2k3 will ship this year)

In Fact is same Thing But Most Complex, "Microsoft Windows XP Professional", "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Corporate WorkStation"

I don't see anything looks complexed. Just think it's XP and everything should be fine.

Again, this will make Windows Server 2003 become Windows XP Professional (Advanced Server Technologies). It's XP that has server kernel which (as you know) and has better networking management with server components support as optional. It's like Windows XP Ultimate Edition compared to Vista and sure it's much faster.

Hope this make it clear.

for random testting i put this on 3 differnt 2k3 boxes, and ran updates both b4 and after the install, ive installed drivers b4 and after the install...i have NOT found a SINGLE glitch..i'm runing Corp

My school gave me 3 different versions of Win2k3 server for whatever reason. I would say that is the exception to your rule lol.

I might build a test machine tonight and give this a shot. Any word on how it runs games?

Look's nice. This plus WinSrv2k3 = Ultimate OS.

It would be best for OS before Vienna, not Vista. I'm making article why should I not care Vista now and soon you guys will findout :p

Then you are dumb if you are writing such an article as Vista is still in the process of being made.

Is there anybody who tried this tool on Windows Small Business Server 2003? I'd like to know how it goes on there :p

This is now getting stupid, who the hell would run this on SBE  what next datacentre.....

You can't say who's dumb until final but I'll pay for Vienna not Vista since I don't want to buy new OS that much. (You'll understand why when you read it)

About SBS, I'm just curious so I ask if someone tries it.

So your happily going to pay for an OS (Vienna) that you know absolutley nothing about, thats as bad as writing why you won't buy Vista before its released.

I'm going to disagree with you on that. I don't know what Windows X's reason's are, but if I wasn't going to purchase Vista, I would say it is because of all the features that have been pulled that will probably show up in future versions of Windows, most likely Vienna.

Why spend $300+ on Vista Ultimate when two to four years after Vista's release Vienna will show up with everything that Vista has plus more (most likely). I mean, how many of us really want to purchase an upgrade only version of Windows? That means that you want be able to upgrade from Vista to Vienna without first having Vista installed on the system, so most likely most of us will buy both Vista & Vienna at $300+, costing $600+ for both operating systems. I can see why people would want to skip Vista and wait for Vienna.

I don't see why it is dumb to write an article on why someone wouldn't want to purchase Vista before it is released.

"Windows Vista is feature complete which means the code ?writing? process is in essence over. The next phase of development focuses on security, testing and fit/finish ? not writing new code." -Microsoft spokesman.

The Conversion pack does work with SBS as well. I just tried it.

I'm curious, but can this conversion tool add Universal Plug and Play support to Server 2003 ? (since it can change the OS identifier, what stops it from asking for a WinXP CD and pulling the UPnPHost stuff INFs and installing it ?)

No, no, no... Plug and Play is fine !

Universal Plug and Play is something else...

It is what allows user-mode programs to automatically setup port-forwarding on the router that supports UPnP...

(in Windows XP, it is included, and MS says it's not available for Windows Server 2003)

In Windows XP, it's present as 2 services:

Universal Plug and Play Host

SSDP Discovery Service

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
