Ya I see that it was added to my connected thing. Downloading it now! But i cant find a new key. Does it require a new key becuase in my connect thing I only have keys for 5308 and below.

damn, i feel so frustrated right now...

i have a 1mbit connection, spent 8 hours downloading build 5308 because 5342 wasn't there yet. i go back to get the serial after the download completes, and there it is, built 5342...

i need to break somethin

I wish I could get this damn build to install! Had exactly the same problem with 5308... setup runs, reboots once, reboots twice, does it's thing for a couple of minutes, then I get a screen full of garbage. Nobody in the newsgroups seems to be able to help either :(

What sort of setup do you have, laptop/desktop? x86, 64?? On board graphics, plenty of disk space? Are you running it from the cd, or starting it from Windows?

did you guys install the official nvidia vista drivers? http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_87.15.html

I used these... apparently they give better performance:

v. 87.43 32Bit

v. 87.43 64bit

They are working well for me, on my 6800GT, although I can't go into standby - but this might be a sound driver issue.

Well, I got a problem intalling the build 5342 Release.

Everything works fine, until the first restart. I choose Vista on Bootmanager

and then the whole screen goes black and remains black.

I've tried several times, same effect.

I got a 3500+, 1GB RAM, 6800 GT

I chose a logical partition of my IDE drive instead of a primary. Could that be the Problem?

I appreciate your help :) .

Are Audigy 2 ZS drivers available for this release? Can they be installed natively or via XP SP2 mode?

As far as I know, you can launch CTZAPXX.exe or CTAPXX.exe (under safe mode) under audio\drivers\ on your Audigy installation CD. (assuming the directory structure is the same as the SBLive! disks)

Just wiat. It took me about 4min on this screen becuase im running it off of a really ****ty HDD :D the next build though is going on my raptor :D when does it come out?? ANyone know?

I've waited about 25 minutes now, and I don't think something is going to change.

Maybe I should try my S-ATA HDD? Do I need additional drivers? Cause I don't have a floppy drive

Damn it! I want it!

Whatever i do, 5342 refuses to install on my x2 system. If i put in the dvd (32bit add 64bit, it dosnt matter) it would first just give me a black screen at boot. Then i tried to install it withn my windows xp, using daemon tools and then it would go ahead but later on give me an error. Then tried to boot the dvd again, and it did - instead of giving me the black screen. Then on the first reboot, it would simple give me a black screen on boot :s. Then tried to install again from withn xp using daemon tools, this time it would give me display after the first reboot, but what do you think happened on the second reboot? Just another ****ing black screen hanging

Vista 5342 just dont like my system  - Not even in VMWare!

Oh... I tried on "multiple" drives, not just one... So i would be surprised if it was the drives to cause this.

I don't know if this helps, but Vista gives me a black screen on boot for a good 30 seconds before the real bootscreen kicks in, I heard it has to do with SATA drives, plus i'm on a not so modern computer. but It might help.

Just installed this build. It looks alright, compared to older builds, but the sound drivers don't install, and graphic performance is laggy. Even with my 7800 GT, dragging the window isn't that smooth, and some of the animations stutter. Oh well, at least glass and the animations work.

I didn't snap a screenshot of the system rating box, but according to the XML file WinSAT produced:

	<SystemScore>5</SystemScore>
	<MemoryScore>5</MemoryScore>
	<CpuScore>5.2</CpuScore>
	<CpuEncDecScore>5.2</CpuEncDecScore>
	<VideEncodeScore>5.3</VideEncodeScore>
	<GraphicsScore>5.9</GraphicsScore>
	<GamingScore>5.7</GamingScore>
	<DiskScore>5.7</DiskScore>

my system's rating is 5.

The black screen just hangs, the longest time i waited was 20 mins- Before i turned it off.

I also tried to just unplug all my drives, i didnt need. Also tried to install on IDE drives.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
