We're never going to see anything come of this like all the other 'alternative fuel' inventions. It seems every couple years or so, someone comes up with this new invention that gives an alternative source of power/fuel, it is then bought up by either an auto maker or the government then never seen again.

Also I imagine this needs distilled water, or at the very least some sort of clean water that does not come from a tap.

Plus you can make your own distilled water at home by boiling the water, then collecting the steam (steam is the distilled water). (Expensive as far as electricity on a large scale) but works in a pinch should say the new HHO station (water station to replace gas) ran out of water. :)

How do you figure? It is for the purposes of producing an alcoholic beverage, but not if end result is just going to be water. If you think about it, that would mean anyone using a kettle, iron, dishwasher, etc could be arrested and charged.

nah, you still need to produce the electricity for his special electrolysis process, no such thing as free energy :p

but its a nice way of carrying around compact fuel

"Free Energy" what scientists call "dark matter" does exist. You know all the energy released when an a-bomb explodes? That's what they call dark matter. Figuring out a way to harness it safely and use it as an energy source is where it gets tricky. If we could only manage to harness that in a good way instead of using it to destroy  It's been known for years that it could be used as an energy source. You're pulling the energy directly from the air...well everything around you actually. You can fart and power a house.

BTW there's been a few people in history to get a car running on only water. Weird thing is that they usually vanished after making it known to the government ;)

Here's another guy to have figured it out. Only this time it's known about publically. But what's the first thing the government wants it for? MILITARY USE  Tell me that isn't BS

But if you own a diesel car just pour some french frie oil in the tank and there's you some fuel

Here's the deal...

Yes, by using electricity you can extract the Hydrogen from water leaving a waste product of oxygen (which as waste products go, isn't too bad).

Hydrogen can then be used to power a fuel cell vehicle like the forthcoming Honda FCX. Fuel cell vehicles also have very clean emissions.

The only problem is that fossil fuels are often used to generate the electricity used to power the process that separates the hydrogen from water.

If you want this to be a real solution (that actually reduces dependence on mid-east oil) then you would need to invest in greener electricity-generating options (solar, wind, hydro, etc...) to power the hypdrogen collection process.

That may be true, but at least it's cutting down on emissions from the consumer end. So essentially, it's a step in the right direction until somebody comes up with a way to generate the electricity without the fossil fuels.

Dark matter isn't what's released in nuclear explosions. Dark matter is the yet unknown matter that causes graivty to hold deep space objects together, especially noticeable on a large scale. I.e. what holds galaxies together, as the observed matter is according to theories too small. Therefore, there must be a hypothetical "dark matter" as well.

The energy released when an atomic bomb explodes is rather well documented and understood and has little, if anything, to do with dark matter. It's mostly about thermal radiation and one can read more here.

And no, according to current theroies, free energy exist nowhere, not in dark matter, atomic bombs (these simply release potential energy in the atomic nucleus itself), or anywhere else. Free energy would violate very fundamental physical theories.

If we could only manage to harness that in a good way instead of using it to destroy

That's called nuclear reactors. :p

That's controlled nuclear reactions, as opposed to the uncontrolled ones you're seeing in atomic bombs. Guess why these provide enormous amounts of energy from relatively little raw material. Nuclear reactors split atoms too, just like the bombs, but with humans in control, besides with meltdown disasters. ;)

    • Deal for those who want 1900 size electronics in their house? with 2026/7 hardware mhm.. not nice
    • Cheap labour, the same as the U.K. China pays their people pittance.
    • Those people that come over here on boats are already in a safe country, if they want to come over here then do so correctly though the right channels. I was born in the U.K, my family that came over here came so via the proper means. My partner came here via the correct channels, she also became a British citizen, she knows more about this country than most of them that was born here, including myself, she worked hard to do what she does. She will stick up for this country and have done a few times, when people from her own part of world have put the U.K down. We are not going to agree, all I said to start with is that maybe Trump has the right idea with this America first thing and maybe we should start doing the same. Maybe not as drastic as what he is doing, but we do need to sort this country out, we need to sort out tech instead of relying on the U.S and others. Again you have not shown why you are so annoyed that we have left the E.U and this is what it is all about? If you don't live in the U.K and live in the E.U are you annoyed that we left your little club? If you live in the U.K and is pro-E.U, then fair enough then I can see how it annoys you. Are you one of these people who lives in the U.K and have a holiday chalet in the E.U and can now only stay there for so long? If so, then that is bad luck. As I have posted before, I have no problem with people coming here to work, as long as they do if via the proper channels. We are out of the E.U, people voted out, and maybe if more people had voted instead of sitting on their backsides the results would have been different. But they like the E.U and our government thought no we would not vote to leave. How wrong they were, surprised me. I expected to wake up in the morning and hear on the radio that we voted to stay. As I said, we are out and have been for 10 years, we are not going to go back in anytime soon if we ever do, so we all need to make the best of how things are. Anyway, this is supposed to be a tech site.
    • Tim Cook: "The US over time began to stop having as many vocational kinds of skills." What's the point of wasting time getting those skills if you can't get a job with them? Good Lord, maybe he and his cohort of CEO's who exported all these jobs to China should just shut the f**k up :D
