I"ll quote this from google who makes the add-on for google earth that makes it real time but of course im the bull****t artist right hoochie? thats why I love neowin so many wonderful people from down under.

An Add-on allows for real-time MODIS imagery,Real time updates every 7 minutes Google Earth and Virtual Earth are In the forefront.

Right, thats a quote that is not even quoted properly, meaning you can easily qrite it yourself.

There is no source to your quote. Post a link to the page that says that and then maybe i will start to believe your stories.

i ahve a quote from father christmas' web site... but im not telling you where. you will need to search google!:

This year i am not delivering presents as i dont like humans any more.

:(

MODIS (or rapid fire MODIS) isnt real-time sattelite images, it is used by NASA to track realtime disaster/big events (Dust storms, Fires, Algae Bloom etc.) nothing to do with imagery. And its FREE (with world wind, also free)

Edit: It does involve imagery, but only for specific areas that are of importance (hurricanes, floods etc.) not the whole planet.

I love that you may start to believe my stories and what stories would that be? since you don't know me nor do I post very often so your statement is interesting.yes i have had a couple debates on here but only with the few neowin folks who seem to to think they know everything about tech and if they dont know about it heard of it or seen it on neowin then it isnt real, doesnt exist or is lie. i have news for you and those like you.Neowin is a great site but it's not the be all to end all in news. there are dozens of sites Like digg that post news and technology that neowin doesnt also there are many underground technology sites and even government sites and the like so im sure you know the government use s's goggle earth. If you think they are going to use a program where it only updates every few weeks or months your mistaken. learn to understand you do not know everything.

It's not really real time. The MODIS link would only give you pictures from a small part of earth (i.e. where the satelite is) and as mentioned, just in areas where NASA are looking at. I don't know how they update the main catalogue but i don't like it. Last year we could see our house at a good-ish resolution (i could see my car) but now they've updated it, and while the resolution is better, it was taken when they were still building our house :@.

MODIS is nowhere near the scale of what Google Earth covers, so while these are updated semi-frequently, it only covers catastrophic or other interesting nature events. NASA's WorldWind is free and covers MODIS updates, but I doubt you'll like it more than Google Earth unless you're a scientists not intending to look at semester goals, your neighborhood, etc.

So that's that about "real time updates".

When you think about it, it's a technical impossibility given today's tech to cover Earth in real time. :p
