edit: i retract that statement. while they could have stolen it, that dialog always opens in the same area... coincidence they used the same background? *shrug*

Something new... new/updated animations for copy/attributes/IE download animations

post-11001-1151268413.png

i like the new Animations. Too bad IE 7 didnt have a download mananger, like they did back in the 4xxx days. that would have been a huge hit if it still had it.

I'm not so sure.... most people don't download large files, >1 GB... so unless you're on dialup, is there really a need for one?

I doubt it for a few reasons:

a. Microsoft are trying not to muscle out third party applications where not neccessary due to harsh recent rulings

b. As already stated, it would be nice, but not THAT necessary. I know I use other programs for larger files like torrents etc... or the Microsoft Downloader for Betas etc... and so I don't think it would be that useful

Is it just me, or do the new cursors kind of look like Ubuntu's default cursors?

Please, don't flame me. It's just something I noticed. I'm not saying Windows ripped off Ubuntu (I think a lot of Linux distros use this cursor set, actually).

I moved my cursor over the Windows one and it completely covered it, pixel by pixel. The Vista ones seem to have a more faint border though. I think that makes them look a lot less smooth...

Hmm... I can see it, but to be honest I couldn't care less if they did.

It's an arrow!!! :p

Yeah, I agree. ;) I'm not going to spread this around and point the finger at Windows or anything.

Windows' new cursors don't really look like they'd fit in with everything for skinners/customizers though. They'll probably end up being skinned more now.

Yes.. beginning to get very excited for Vista. And as some other's have said... October 25th :):)

Obviously... it will slip :p, but not too much I hope. They need to get it out soon around christmas.

Anyway... little upset with MS today for not releasing this build on MSDN, Vista is pretty puch the only Beta I'm not on, on connect, and that was because I didnt bother as I have an MSDN OS subscription. I assumed we'd get them all :@:s

Ah well, I'm sure I'll find a way ;) LMAO

Chris

To be honest getting it properly into shops worldwide before then would be difficult,

BUT.. the official line is that third parties/ hardware vendors need time to create and test drivers before it can be massively used in a home environment on non-preconfigured machines.

As I said.. believe when see.... ;)

Chris

hmmm I just "previewed" the cursors on Vista, and they do look nice. However, is it too much efforts for Microsoft to antialias the current cursor... I kind of like the long tail :/ ?

BTW is this a pre-RC1 build (working towards RC1) or a post beta 2 (working past beta 2), as in this build is the starting of the RC1 release or do they both mean the samething? I'm not exactly sure how it works between milestones...

    • Thanks Microsoft but no, I find both iterations of Outlook terrible nowadays and switched back to Thunderbird at home.
    • Happens to the best of us, bro. 😛
    • Thanks to some of the other recent Windows improvements, I'm optimistic about this one. My quick wishlist would be: perf like the older menu, merge both menus or at the very least, the older menu should be a flyout, not a simulated click to the old menu, and lastly, a customization window to let users move items from one menu to another, so I could bring Send To back to the main menu, and the OneDrive settings to the older.
    • This Gigabyte AMD RX 9070 XT is very good deal despite the launch of 9070 GRE by Sayan Sen Recently we reviewed AMD's latest 1440p gaming card, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB, for $549. The card is in stock too at that price, though if you want significantly better performance and don't mind spending a bit more, the Gigabyte Gaming model of RX 9070 XT is currently on sale for just $650 (purchase link under the specs table down below). The card employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The technical specifications of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G are given in the table below: Specification Value Core Clock Boost Clock: up to 3060 MHz Game Clock: up to 2520 MHz Stream Processors 4096 Memory Clock 20 Gbps Memory Size 16GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Bus 256-bit Card Bus Interface PCI Express 5.0 Maximum Resolution 7680 × 4320 Multi-View Support 4 displays Card Dimensions L=288 mm, W=132 mm, H=56 mm Recommended Power Supply 750W Power Connectors 3 × 8-pin Video Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB Graphics Card, GV-R9070XTGAMING OC: $649.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $740) This Amazon deal is US-specific and not available in other regions unless specified.
