How can driving around a circular track with your foot down require any skill? The angle of the track means they don't need turn much if at all, even if they do need to turn its always gonna be a slight left. They don't even need to brake as there's no tight corners, they just go round and round and round......

And now its time that I laugh at your lack of knowledge...*points and laughs at you* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ;)

what are you talking about. when the players brush by each other one falls down, rolls around holding some random part of his body for a while. gets carried off, has a drink of water and comes back!

but yah soccer is boring.

Haha. Yeah, I guess there's that.

Here's my impression of a typical soccer match:

Kick, kick, kick...interception. Kick, kick, kick...out of bounds. Kick, kick, kick...guy falls down clutching his leg for no reason. Then every 10 mins or so, there's a shot...but it's wide or over the net.

Frankly there are probably more boring sports out there, but none are as lame as soccer because of all the diving by the players and how fans go so nuts over something so incredibly boring, even to the point of killing each other over it. What other sport do people kill each other over?

#1 American Football - Plays last 2 - 10 seconds followed by 2 minutes of coaching shots/sweaty player loafing to the positions and a billion flags and video recalls on the plays

Why is it called football anyway?

My problem is the tediousness of the inevitable 1st down run up the middle for a 3 yard gain.

All of the sports mentioned that are actually playable by normal people are fun... If you don't think so, then you're probably someone who just doesn't enjoy physical activity. As for watching them, unless you really have a passion for one of the mentioned sports, then of course you're going to think it's boring to watch.

You put that so perfectly.

Since this thread made no mention of "watching", I think you ought to try to play it first before discred the game. Soccer is a sport that wear you down real fast if you are not fit. It takes so much energy, strategy, and coordination. You might say, "so is other sports." Well, consider how huge the playing field and consider playing without a proper gear. Coordination is another issue.

As said before there is a differance between watching and playing. There is some sports that i find boring to watch but quite fun to be part of.

Football (Soccer) This can be boring and great, When the ref lets people just go all in sliding to get the ball and lets play continue on is just great. And when you got teams that will counter attack pretty quick that fun to watch. But it's boring to watch when it's just midfield postion. Sort of like the Argie goal in the world cup which was something like 22 passes.

Basketball, belive it or not there is a british league that has a few americans in. If i remember correctly Dennis Rodman has or still plays for Brighton Bears. Can't stand to watch it but loved playing it.

Golf, eghhhhh sooooooooooo boring.

Tennis, most of the time i find it pretty boring

Curling, not that bad i watch the british team in the last winter olympics and it was interesting to watch as they have to judge the distance and then put enough power on and curl it.

Horse riding, please put the horse out of its life and kill it now

Most motor racing, The only motor sports i watch is either F1 or rallying. Even the WRC has got boring.

Rugby, pretty good to watch the tough tackles and people getting knocked out or winded. If you get knocked out you normally get up and run it off. Also johhny wilko is fiitter now i think his shoulder is much better now. Also in rugby you end up with split lips, cauliflower ears, Shoulders that are wrecked from the brute tackling.

Rounders (Baseball) Ummm nah can't stand that either

You put that so perfectly.

There are pockets of activity when you actually have the ball near you.

My problem with soccer is that if the ball is in the opposite corner then you might as well sit down and wait for someone to move the ball in your direction.

For me it has to be lacrosse.

Saw it on cable last nite the US were playon Canada in the world final, in London Ontairo, which is typical ...wprld final?!! Who the hell plays the sport anyway???!!

As for the game it doesnt look very exciting to me....besides Canada seemed to be gettin thir asses whooped in the rain.....

Is it a pro sport ?

are you shure about that... because last time i checked cananda beat america 14 - 9

Lacross is an awsome sport, its faster then hockey with harder hits and waayyyy more fights.

Its kind of a brutis sport.

As for my picks... i'm gonna go with the top "whimpyest" sports

#1) Golf.. Its a past time... not a sport

#2) Soccer.. Whine whine whine... bitch bitch bitch... OMG he bumped me... OMFG IM GONNA CRY

#3) Basketball.. just like soccer, but its alot easyer to score

 The idea is to move and find space so that someone can actually pass the ball to you without someone else intercepting the pass.

Can't just sit there. you got to be active and move about and be ready to sprint off.

If you are a central defender you got to be on your toes and you have to watch for the counter attack and then judge how you will make your tackle and when. You also have to be aware of other players around you.

If you was to sit deep then you are asking for problems and will have a likey chance of playing the other side onside, which you don't want

I should have mentioned that I quit playing soccer when I was about 9 or 10 (as is typical in North America) so people couldn't kick it very far and being open wasn't particularly hard. Trust me, when it was in the opposite corner there wasn't much to do unless you gave up on playing your position and just chased the ball. In hockey, we call that playing pond hockey and any team that plays pond hockey generally loses.

I love how everyone who trashes football (American) all say a play lasts 2 seconds and then takes 5 minutes to start. You people do realize that there is a 35 second clock between plays right?

Not really, since in soccer an offensive player without the ball must have at least two defenders between him and the goal, or else he is offside. So if the guy gets by you without the ball, he's offsides. That is what always bothered me about soccer, no quick counter attack pass to the lone man for a breakaway.

 Thats wrong, the attacking (offensive) player cannot be between the last defender and the goalkeeper when the ball is played to him otherwise he is offside. If he's in that position and ball hasn't been played to him then he's not offside. If you time it right you can make a quick breakaway ;)

Yeah I played soccer for 7 years 'til your popularity and the shoes you wore to school started mattering.

Nowadays, I wish soccer was the most popular sport here, it's so damn fun to watch/play! Ever since Fifa '06 swept the States. I've never even known what Fifa was before this year.

Yeah, that always bugged me about soccer. I mean, you don't want to encourage goal sucks and cherry pickers but I prefer the way hockey goes about it (a line on the ice rather than being relative to a defender).

    • I think the car analogy is more this: Left hand drive, basic commands on the left side of the infotainment screen. Right hand drive, basic commands on the right side of the infotainment screen. Granted, you're not swapping between the two often so it's doesn't really work. But it's to do with the proximity of you (your mouse, or the driver) to the controls.
    • I mean, the old one was broken and so stupidly complex for many users, so I don't see that as a feasible option. A context menu needs to be simple to use, and for me the Windows 11 style actually worked really well for me, and many others. I used to have to scroll the damn context menu just to get to "file properties" in Windows 10. That was not a good experience, and I'm sure you'd agree. What they're trying to do is make it the best of both worlds, as clearly you'd prefer the Win10 style. I'm curious how they're going to do this.
    • The "Show more options" has its place, as does the simpler context menu, but it should perhaps be a separate fly-out rather than relaunching the entire, old context menu. The old context menu was getting absurd in Windows 10. Often I'd have to make the context menu scroll just to get to "File properties" on my old laptop. Even without much installed, the amount of items was just too much. It's a context menu, not a "do all" menu. Making it configurable is fraught with challenges too, so I'm interested to see how Microsoft tackles this one.
    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
