Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

To the person that said this past episode was better than anything in the first two seasons, I have to strongly disagree. I was late to the party, but it was hard for me to not watch the whole first season in one sitting (on DVD, of course). Don't get me wrong, this was a good episode (and it did at least answer some questions as far as I'm concerned), but you can't put down season 1.

As far as the chick in Kate's flashback - I know a couple of people have explained and I'm beating a dead horse, but I thought most people would remember her - she was in at least two of Sawyer's flashbacks! In one she got conned by him even though he supposedly loved her and in another she told him about their daughter when he was in prison.

But like I said, it was a good, solid episode. The fact that I feel like talking about Lost so much right now is a testament to it. I'm feeling great about the rest of the season now that Nikki and Paulo are gone. :)

(Sad thing is they got quite a bit more interesting after seeing the ending to their last episode)

They'll be back in the future episodes.

The Nikki & Paulo story? You're kidding right? That episode was the biggest pill of crap Lost has ever aired. Come on, you're stuck on an island and you find another plane, a hatch, and other people on the island and don't tell anyone? Just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

absolutely. i wondered what the whole point of the nina and pablo characters were. they didn't advance the "lost" story one bit. it was more of a filler than anything.

Filler it might be, but they just didn't all of a sudden decide to make an episode just about them two. It's been pre-planned before season 3. Maybe even before season 1 ever started as I don't see why they would re-create the expensive beach crash scene just for this episode.

i'm sure it wasn't re-created but digitally edited. it was a decent episode but pretty worthless as far as the tale of the island goes. it was nice to see shannon and boone though.

They shot a couple of extra scenes, but the rest of it was edited or stock footage from the Pilot. Nikki and Paulo weren't cast until way after the Pilot episode. They certainly weren't there from the beginning, as much as they want us to believe they were:

Next week is a Juliet flashback that has some very important reveals, from what I hear. We'll see how she came to the island, and we'll also get a much better sense of her true intentions. Cannot wait.

I can also tell you that from what I've seen and heard, there will be a pretty major reveal in nearly every episode until this season's finale, so hold onto your seat cushions and reach for that overhead oxygen, Oceanic passengers. It's gonna be a fast landing!

Wow I think that sounds awesome...seeing Ethan in next weeks episode is just great...he also looks like something from the Village

Nikki and Paulo may not have been cast until February, but the characters themselves in the overall story could have easily been a part of the plan the whole time, or maybe as they were working through the finer details of season three. I personally didn't mind having them there. It's just more characters, no need to get one's panties in a bind. :)

I completely disagree. There's plenty of reason to get angry over this. I'm a huge fan of Locke and I feel that Locke's story has been cheapened by because Nikki & Paulo found these things before Locke did. Boone died for no reason and if one of them had spoken up everyone else would have already known about this and Boone might not have died.

Possibly because moving from the beach would mean in some peoples minds that they are never going to get rescued and they are destined to live on the island for ever. This would be a little bit demoralising to the Losties.

While they remain on the beach there is the chance that they will still be rescued, which makes the ordeal and every day they spend there more bearable

So no Locke for next 3 episodes!

That sucks.

Btw, why didnt the smoke monster go above the sonic fence?

Thats like one of those obvious things...like when in Horror movies...girls rather then run to the door...they run round the house and get killed...

Don't know, the only thing I can figure is that it can't, but why who knows?

I thought that perhaps after the Russian got killed, they turned off the fence...thus why the Losties were able to get over the fence safely. :) As we've seen Smokey go higher than that.

Yeah I would of that...but maybe its the others who left the barracks needed to turn it off to leave...

D.O.C Episode Info...

After learning that the Others' pregnant woman all died before giving birth on the island, Sun allows Juliet to examine her; Desmond allows an unlikely nemesis to help save the life of a new, mysterious island inhabitant

there's a pretty noticeable glitch in this episode, don't how nobody mention it. I've captured 2 frames, one after Juliette falls and drags Kate with her, now look at Kate, when she's on her why down to the mad she's already dirty ..

I'm guessing the scene took couple of shots and the lost directors didn't had time to clean Kate :)

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.
