Lost - Season Three

The shot he took was a warning shot to Jack. He could've easily shoot it again.

Given his condition and that, IIRC, he had to reset the trigger so that it would shoot, it's unlikely. Immediately after the shot, Jack picked the phone up. From that point, Locke was all about threats but not going through with them.

Hey regarding the New JJ Abrams Movie - Codenamed "Cloverfield" it DOES have similarity to Lost Pilot

I think the biggest fact that many people are overlooking is the release date: January 18th 2008. That?s only six months away and the film has yet to begin principal photography. Sure, that timeline is good enough for a talkie indie film but a big monster movie with lots of special effects? Something seems really off. The timing of the January release also seems off for this type of movie. Some people are speculating that the date is in fact the film?s title. And others are speculating that the date is not the film?s release date, but a release date of a trailer or more viral informatiSome have even speculated that this might be one giant campaign for the Abrams co-created television series LOST. It could just be a coincidence that LOST returns to network television a few weeks after the 1.18.2008 date and is expected to involve flash forwards to the “real world”. JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot is also the production company behind lost. This whole dissection of the movie trailer and online discussion also seems something much in the vein of the LOST television series.

One thing is for sure, Paramount and JJ Abrams have gotten our attention. We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out.t.

Wow! The season is finally over!

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was disappointed in Jack. I'm a Jack fan, but he turned into Rush Limbaugh in those scenes of the future! He seemed so weak, as opposed to the strong Kack on the island.

He talked about his dad as if he was still alive. That was odd.

Of course the obvious questions, who was in the coffin, and who was Kate married to. I thought Kate had too much make-up on. I like the natural look!

I thought the episode was great, but I really wish they didn't have those scenes of the future. Now I know they make it back safely, it kinds of kills the suspense. At least Jack and Kate won't die.

Speaking of dying, why couldn't Charlie close the door after he left the room? Charlie was a jerk ever since he was on the island, it was quite the turn-around for him to be the hero.

And Hurley the hero! Ha! The VW Bug!

Me & the relatives I'm living with are thinking about watching season 1-3 all over again. :D

When we get closer to Feb '08, me and a friend are going to through three parties (the three Saturdays before the premire) and we'll watch one season each Saturday (going into Sunday of course) non-stop. She did it when season 3 started with the first two seasons, but we didn't know each other at the time. She said she had a blast doing it then :)

Season three should've been nominated for something. It was by far the best season yet. They must be disgruntled over season two... and not getting all the answers they want... and they're hard core, die hard Sopranos fans.... yeah, that's it.

i watched the ending of season 3 last week.. omg how confusing. i cant actually think of how they're going to carry on the series if the last point is everyones left the island :s i hope theres more reason to the island...

I think the island, or rather islands, are under ice, at at least on or in the ice, hence the need for the sub.

Remember Penny was in a helicopter in a snow storm when her instruments picked-up the hatch exploding?

Sayid, a couple of episodes back, asked something like, "Did you actually see the helicopter?" when interrogating the parachutist (I forget her name now, Naomi?). The people on top of the ice could of dropped her (as well as food drops).

Austrailia is relatively close to Antartica, and thus the South pole (electromagnitism).

Desmond, when he tried to escape, said something like he kept sailing and sailing, but couldn't get a way from the island, like in a big circle? A contained space like in the movie, "The Truman Show"? (When Micheal and Walt left, they got the way out from Ben).

Polar bears!

And how much of a mind**** would it be if these tropical islands were in the freakin' ice!?

Edit: I just remembered that there are no polar bears in the Antartic, but hey, they could of been brought in for experiments because of they can survive the cold journey.

No way in heck they are under ice. How would they simulate atmospheric and weather conditions of a tropical island under there? Plus daylight and all that junk. The Earth's magnetic field may vary minutely depending on the distance from the poles but it probably does not get significantly strong enough to cause the kind of anomalies we've seen in the hatch.

You got a point there Leonidas but I think the snow globe under the ice thing pretty far fetched and stretches a bit too far into sci-fi land for most viewers imo.

Speaking of snow globes, weren't there some snow globe references? One in Patchy's shack, maybe? I forget. Googling I did find a quote that Desmond said that they are in a snow globe, but a producer also said, "You're not going to find all these characters in a snow globe.." so... :hmmm: Hey, it's just a theory! :p

Also, in the final episode, when Kate said something like, "I have to get back to him" I think she means her son. Either Sawyer's, or Ben's (remember, before she was placed in the cage, there was a gap of time when she was in the handcuffs. Maybe artificially inseminated?).

Yeah I highly doubt the Island is under Ice plus when they had the hatch implode in the season 2 finale it was seen as a normal island when the magnetic discharge happened so I think its just shrouded in some kind of sheet.

Season 4 Spoilers!

Harold Perrineau is returning to Lost!

At Today's ABC Press Tour it was revealed that Harold Perrineau is returning to Lost. They also mentioned that a number of big reveals would be held back for Comic-Con.

Flashforwards, Flashbacks and Neither

Will the format of the episodes change in season 4 to keep the flash forwards of Season 3 Finale?

No, there are no rules in Lost. Certain episodes will have flash forwards, others of the flash back, others will have neither one nor the other.

Hopefully i won't be the only person not going spoiler free for season 4!

Yep you will be :D

I want the premier to be a surprise and not something I already know what's gonna happen...

Sounds great! I like the idea of flash forwards and neither, because these flashbacks are starting to wear thin. I mean, they don't do a whole lot in progressing the story as a neither or flash forward episode would. Although some people love the flashbacks since they develop the characters... just how much character building do we need? It's the fourth season!

    • Microsoft hides these secret Windows 11 performance boost settings available on every PC by Sayan Sen Windows enthusiasts often look for ways to extract as much performance out of their systems as possible, and it's often the case that they try and do so while trying to minimize the heat and power consumption. This is especially relevant in the case of mobile Windows PCs since laptops and notebooks tend to get hot and management of that heat and power is harder in such a form factor. As such users often turn to techniques like under-volting which can be used to squeeze out the maximum capabilities of a chip while also maintaining lowered power levels. There are official apps from AMD and Intel with the likes of Ryzen Master and XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility). While these are quite handy, most enthusiasts probably prefer to dig into the BIOS and play around with settings there like Curve Optimizer on Ryzen, which lets users set various frequency-voltage scaling values. These are essentially called P-States. If you are not familiar with them, Processor Power Management is done through Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) P-states and C-states. While P-states or performance pwoer states handle CPU voltage-frequency scaling, C-states deal with CPU sleep states so that some of the CPU functions, which are not necessary at that moment, can be disabled. The P-states and C-states work together to make the processor run more efficiently. It helps the OS and apps determine which cores can be parked and which should be boosted. Of course not every user is an enthusiast or knows the technicalities and integrities of how things like overclocking or undervolting work. Thankfully for them Windows itself offers something pretty cool, though it is hidden by default on all systems. By default, Windows only has two P-States, "Minimum Processor State" and "Maximum Processor State." However, this can be changed with a Registry trick to expand the options under a secret "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown. This essentially enables the HWP or hardware P-States available on a device, and these are not controlled just by the OS itself as the underlying hardware gets involved too. In total there are five Processor Performance Boost Mode profiles that control how Windows requests and allows CPU turbo/boost behavior under the different power policies. They are: Disabled: In this mode, processor boosting is effectively turned off. The CPU will avoid entering turbo or boost frequencies and instead operate closer to its base frequency ceiling. This can significantly reduce power consumption and heat output, but at the cost of reduced burst performance and responsiveness in short workloads. Enabled: This is the standard behavior where boost functionality is allowed under normal conditions. The processor can opportunistically increase frequency when workload demands it, balancing performance gains with power and thermal constraints as managed by the system. Aggressive: Aggressive mode favors performance more heavily, allowing the CPU to enter higher boost states more readily and sustain them longer. This should in theory improve responsiveness under bursty or heavy workloads but increases power draw and thermal output compared to the default enabled behavior. Efficient Enabled: This mode still allows boosting, but with a stronger bias toward energy efficiency. The system attempts to use boost more selectively, avoiding unnecessary frequency spikes when the performance gain is marginal. Efficient Aggressive: This is a hybrid approach where boost is still performance-responsive, but the system continuously weighs efficiency more heavily than in Aggressive mode. It aims to deliver noticeable performance improvements while reducing wasted power in less demanding scenarios. Here's how to enable the Processor performance boost mode: Open Registry Editor: Press Win+R, type regedit, and click OK. Go to: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7 (where HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_) Modify the value of Attributes from 1 to 2 (you can find modify option by right-clicking) After that, exit Registry, you should now be able to see the new "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown menu: As you can see there are now five new P-States or CPPC states or power profile available that help define the boost mode processor setting on your PC. Wrapping it up here's a quick run-down of the settings as defined by Microsoft itself. Setting Description Disabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is disabled. Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) behaviour is disabled. Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Efficient Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Efficient Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows calculates the desired extra performance above the guaranteed performance level, and asks the processor to deliver that specific performance level. Efficient Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows always asks the processor to deliver the highest possible performance above the guaranteed performance level. In the next part we shall be comparing these settings to explore how much of a benefit or regression they can provide in terms of performance and power efficiency. If you decide to change the values on your system and are experiencing problems like crashes or an overheating PC, make sure to revert the steps back to the original state.

    • So how did you solve the problem? Disabling Secure Boot isn’t a solution.
