Apple Event on September 12th

Looks much cleaner :) the aqua scrollbars didn't fit in as much... I don't like them getting rid of the "browse/import/burn" button and making it a dull button on the bottom - especially since the "browse" opens up at the top.

Didn't fit in? It doesn't fit in at all now with the rest of my aqua bars on Safari, iChat, Mail, Pages, etc. Ugh.

I'm really disappointed with this new design/UI change. Gunmetal and OS X =

I Think the funniest thing is that they said they were making big changes when they got rid of the mini line, but now they have released the new nano which looks exzactly like the ipod mini just smaller.

i was thinking just that, a big step back for the ipod nano.

If anyone is still having problems where the "Unknown Error has Occured" (-#) then I fixed this by opening up Quicktime seperately which did not install correctly and then have that install close it and then open up iTunes and it worked fine.

Just a heads up. :)

Our iMac G5's are running Photoshop twice as fast as the Intels.

not really a fair comparison considering there isn't a native Intel version out yet.

as for obsolescence, it's apple, man!

the designers are like:

"dammit! he promised he wouldn't do that!"

"do what, dude?"

"talk about the new 17" powerbooks! s**t! now we're gonna have to work over time on something else!"

"you're upset? my wife said we have a baby girl."

"cool man!"

"heck! i can't even remember what my wife looks like!"

that powerbook was obsolete the second Steve Jobs unvailed it.

Landshark, BBQ means Barbeque.

Although BBQ can also mean "Better Be Quick" so I guess it's a context thing isn't it?

Don't forget to Google before you ask ;)

Computers are outdated the second you buy them! I bet the military is looking at the civilian computer industry and laughing their arses off at how primitive we all are with our "Conroe's".

I'm pretty dissapointed that the laptops were not Meromed tbh :(

Everyone I have a Theory. Now I just thought of it so I could be totally wrong but this is what I think. Right now if you buy any mac besides the mini (and now besides the imac because they updated them and obviously make less money on them now) you can get a free ipod nano if your a student (still works on the new ipods maximum $205 rebate). Obviously a lot of students are going to be buying laptops right now because the school year is starting/started (I just started school last week). This offer ends on the 16th and they could easily be using this to get rid of all the core duo laptops they have in stock right now.

They released the new imac's with almost no notice (just rumors of a 23"). I am hoping/guessing with in a few weeks they will quietly update them to core 2 duo. I almost all the new laptops are using them now and I don't think any company actually made a big announcement about witching.

So I see Apple doing so quietly in the next few weeks.

Yeah, didn't fit in - not in respect to the rest of the OS GUI, but to the iTunes interface, which also has a different interface than Safari, Mail, and Pages. Anyway, that's just what I think :) With the path iTunes was headed down, I think the blue aqua scrollbars started to stand out just a bit.

Can't wait for those new iPod shuffles to arrive in stores. I already have a 4th gen iPod (w/ color screen), but this will be great for when I'm working out.

The new iTunes is pretty neat. The new scrollbars are a little disappointing (I preferred the Aqua bars TBH), but everything else is neato. I really like how they have an actual download window now, for when you're buying an album off of the iTunes store (as opposed to having your download information at the top bar thing). They also reminded me to back up my purchased music, which was cool. I kept putting that off for the longest time.

didnt fit? and now it fit perfectly right?

What? No, I didn't say that - I do think that these scrollbars fit more with the overall look of iTunes now though. Don't be all offended that I offered my opinion and explained where I came from - I never said that Giga was wrong about anything and if he likes the blue scrollbars, then good for him :) I wish there was a way for people that like it to get it back the way it used to be.

They did make two big changes: flash memory and a color screen.

You've never been in the military then, have you? I spent 6 years as an electronics tech in the Navy. Generally the military is several years behind the civilian world when it comes to computers. Why? Budgets partially, and the need for their hardware to be 100% tested and proven before being used in the field. They can't afford to be beta testers for the computer industry.

Who is their right mind would buy an 8gb player when they could get a 30gb player with more features?

I was thinking this, but people who want to use their nano for use during exercise etc. when you don't want to have to worry about the size and weight of the iPod but still want a good capacity would go for a Nano...presumably :p

Maybe for it's size and the fact an flash based HD is tougher to break? If you exercise a lot you're better off with flash memory than a conventional HD.

Ah, that makes sense.

    • Thanks free chatgpt. The issue is, with most browsers, is you shouldn't need tools to remove anything. It is the whole point of extensions. The only browser so far to man up and be honest that it needs money to function is Brave Origin. Don't like the monetisation and code bloat, have a clean browser for a one off $ charge. Firefox used to be that, but now it is a code bloat browser, hiding AI.
