More icons then you can poke a stick at, 'Ultimate User' level access; as long as this is the Super Awesome Ultimate Edition sign me up because your concept gave me more then a feeling, if you dig.

Moving the start button from the corner is not a very good idea.

Exactly what I was thinking - a lot of users, myself included, just hit the bottom left corner of the screen and click, expecting the Start Menu, forcing them to be more accurate would reduce their productivity...

That's probably why Microsoft uses an in-house team. The designs here are nice, but Microsoft has to weigh productivity too.

How would they remind you of OSX, some of the designs do not even look close to OSX.

They either have a Dock on the left or the bottom of the screen. In case you didn't know, Mac OS X 10.x has a Dock (at the bottom by default). With that said I think these designs and concepts look great!

So what are we going to do about all these designs, let them go to waste?

There concepts nothing more, we just wanted an insite look at what people could come up with just to get an idea of what microsoft could use :)

But Skinners could design them if they wanted but they would have to get permission first (Y)

Just a few ideas for ROME

1 Different layout options, ok I suppose it could get confusing but for advanced users there should be the option of ribbon, center orb, the thingy bar at the bottom and the conventional user interface.

2 I also think that the workspace idea on Linux is a good idea and maybe ms should rip that too.

3 Login screen possibility, for users with a webcam computer could try and do a face recognition and select the user that way, I doubt this will be possible for a while but its an idea.

4 Micgate Office into it in the same way that pain and notepad have been.

5 During install give option to format partitions.

6 By default install OS onto 1 partition and create another for Documents and another for programs unless edited in the above option.

7 Other file formats accepted, eg tga images.

8 Moods, as well as different themes there are differnet colour combinations likes moods eg black and red contrasting of pale blues and greens

Yeah, well they are good ideas, and knowing Microsoft, they wouldn't take the ideas, they would use their own team to build the Windows User Interface.

I was just making a point, all the ideas could be used for something.

I don't know how many of you agree with me but everyone is doing there own ideas and not working on 1 main idea which I think would be better.

Anyway, I have been taking a lot of previous ideas and making a few changes so that they all work and fit in with each other. So far I have an application which replicates the first time loading and I intend to make a fuller version when I get some more images on this forum.

I will upload it in a bit.

I have changed Windows 7 to windwos rome and the user to anthony in all instances to make it look right becaus eif the user name keeps changing and the os name keep changing it will look weird.

I will upload it when I regain ftp access to my website

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?
