Battlestar Galactica Season 3

Get your ears checked guys. He clearly, clearly, clearly says fracking. Sci-Fi is not a paid-for channel like HBO and Showtime. They don't just air this stuff on the whim due to FCC regulations. I have the episode and it is clear that he has an R after an F and an "aah" not "uuh" sound following it, thus, he said "mother fracking".

Still convinced he said what you wanted him to say? Listen carefully.

Edit: I'm aware of other slips in the past, but in this case, Baltar did not say what you think he said.

Not to step on any toes... But cable stations are not subject to FCC regulations. Anything availible exclusively through a cable or satillette service is allowed to do or show anything they wish. They are only beholding to their sponsors and their audience. This is why channels like comedy central are able to insert language in episodes of South Park and they also run uncensored comedy specials. They usually do that in the early morning hours but that is to be considerate to parents of younger viewers.

I am not saying that Baltar said anything that controversal but if they wanted too they could... but they are too classy to do that and the show is pure quality

Thank you for your time and that my 2 cents

Also I doubt they would include such content for future syndication on public air networks. I have seen NBC run test episodes last year for viewership ratings on a larger test market but think they left it as Sci-Fi only for now.

Finally good to see some raptor action... kinda bored with these character episodes... want to see some more toasters getting shot up soon!

I love BSG, it's my favorite series on the air right now, but there seems to be a lot of "filler" episodes recently. I don't mind episodes with no action, but these episodes are ones that really don't advance the overall plot of the series. That's not to say that they aren't well-written or enjoyable, but it seems to be very soap-y recently.

They are called character building episodes. I don't like em either.

Major cast member to depart

As Battlestar Galactica continues to break new ground, more significant cast changes are in the works. Executive producers Ronald Moore and David Eick told the Chicago Tribune's "The Watcher" column that the end of Season Three will remove a central cast member's name from the credits.

Speculation is rife that Katie Sackhoff (Kara Thrace, a.k.a. Starbuck) will depart the series. The controversial move to cast Starbuck as a woman shook the Galactica world in the beginning. Now, Starbuck's future is up for speculation again. The producers report that she completed filming early, short of the last three episodes.

In the shocking episode, "Maelstrom," all sorts of plot twists and turns will send the series in a new unexpected direction. The episode is Starbuck's story. According to Eick, the series will experience a "reshift as radical as what we've done before."

"I can say that Galactica will suffer a shocking loss in that episode and Kara is a key member of the crew," Moore said. "Certainly if she were not there suddenly, that would shift the parameters of what the show is and what the show is about and who the key players are."

"It's a fundamental and permanent change in the makeup of the show's cast and of the show itself and how the show operates and what the show is about," Moore said. "It's a very dramatic change of direction."

Eick continued: "What we're doing with Kara Thrace is profound and is major, and yet it doesn't necessarily translate as simply as you might think."

Other hints indicate that Sackhoff's character will not be the only one involved in the story's new direction. Moore indicated that whether or not Gaius Baltar is a Cylon, he will stand trial for his crimes.

Eick explained that "one of the profound things that does happen to Lee involves him taking a different side from Adama and Laura and others with respect to Gaius Baltar and his crimes against them."

In addition, the producers say that a 2-hour feature film is in discussion to be released between Seasons Three and Season Four, but that another season has not yet been ordered. If the fourth season does not go ahead, neither would the movie (likely a direct-to-DVD release).

While you are still speculating who might be a Cylon, read all the spoilers in the Chicago Tribune story.

Battlestar Galactica returns to the SCI FI Channel Sunday nights beginning January 21 at 10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific!

Doubt it, why point to the fact she was once a child, that flies in the face of her being a cylon. It was a fresh approach to eliminating a major character from a television series by her commiting suicide rather than some dumb plot ploy.

This was one wacky ass episode.. I'm surprised no one has posted about it yet.

But I have a few theories..

The show might be taking a bigger dive into the spirituality they've mentioned throughout the series. The gods, etc. Life after death. It's also possible they only did this as a way to kill off Kara, but you never know.. I have a feeling if this shift does happen, some people might not be very "accepting" of it.. Mixing in heavy amounts of religion (granted a religion based in the BSG universe) might put some people off you know?

What the? Put your bloody spoilers as hidden text. That's just not cool.

ok this bonus scene is a little confusing, but too be honest I too was getting bored with the character of Starbuck, will she return as a cylon ???

I think Ron Moore has to shake somethings up in BSG as it's starting to get a bit boring, I would love to see this show go 5 years, as Babylon 5 went.

Fixed... just assumed it wasn't a spoiler after it has aired? I agree with the spirituality aspect... I think if they go there it just adds another dynamic to an already overly complex television series. As it is now I think it would take about 10 seasons just to wrap up all the current open ends.

Meh I probably jumped the gun on you there lol.. Sorry man. I know a few people who haven't watched it yet. But hopefully they just avoid the thread altogether lol.

Doubt it.

Nope, she could still be. She definitely isn't gone (at least in some form) based on these comments from Eick:

"Ausiello: Will there be any movement in the Starbuck/Apollo romance in this last batch of episodes?

Eick: I would say the events of Episodes 16 and 19 will greatly impact the nature of their romance. "

http://community.tvguide.com/thread.jspa?threadID=800009378

How could something affect their romance if she's dead now? Plus, if you noticed, they showed two things to indicate she may have been captured by the Cylons: 1) She was hovering her hand over the eject lever 2) You saw the Cylon heavy raider from Apollo's perspective at the end. My theory is that the raider picked her up as the ship blew up at the end. Perhaps she's the Cylon after all? :o

Like you mentioned.. Most likely she will be back. But her character may be far different. If they really are diving into spirituality far more then they did previously, her character might be the center of it.

Plus remember she hasn't fulfilled that destiny of hers yet.. It certainly wasn't "suicide" lol. So she'll be back, no doubt about it.

so then, what would have been her destiny? her resolving and unresolved issue with her mother? yeah, that's why a cylon would want to mess with her head. it's all happened before and it will all happen again. besided he wanted to show her something between life and death.

i bet she's who deanna saw.

Well if she is a cylon, that would be the only plausible explaination to bring her back in future episodes. The exterior atmosphere pressure which imploded her ship would have making ejecting the pilot a futile effort to be picked up by any cylon raider in the area.

she has to be one, i cant see the show just killing her off like that, that was fracked up dude, my mouth was on the floor

interesting point. i almost forgot about that and now it makes me curious as to why she reached for the handle.

It occured to me that if they did bring her back as a cylon that it would be awesome if she woke up in a regenerative vat next to Cat in another vat and both of them were two of the final five cylons since it was Starbuck's wish to be next to Cat in death. That would be more fracked up than her death... I think it could work.

    • All versions is correct. The bug appears on any version of Windows with KB5094126 installed. It's a little insane to expect the author to explain that systems that can't possibly have that patch installed, will not experience the bug. If you have any gripe about the title, it would be that it doesn't mention the update at all, but I wouldn't agree with that either. A title is not expected to be a full summery of the article.
    • (Can't see if he's still wearing the clompy clown shoes though)
    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
