Battlestar Galactica Season 3

I don't think this lawyer is in it for the fame like he claims.

I think he's a cylon... or at least a major character beyond his role as Baltar's lawyer. If you noticed the new BSG opening credits, there is a brief one second clip of him at the very end with his head ducted down and then he raises up to look at the camera just as he slids those dark glasses on. Don't know why you'd stick a minor character in the credits?

What are the sunglasses supposed to symbolize anyway? That he's a badass, or sneaky? At one point the camera distinctly focused on him putting his sunglasses back on. Maybe they are some kind of camera?

Oh, also: in the beginning, Lee is talking with his father. I can't remember what was said exactly, but it looked like part of Admiral Adama's speech was muted, because you can see his mouth move but hear nothing, and the audio cuts back in and he says something like "-- need someone I can trust." Anyone else catch this?

That may have just been an editing hack up job. Up until season 2 ep 17 scifi.com would post all the deleted scenes... now they just give a select teaser delete scene every once in a while. Guess they want to drive those dvd sales extra hard. If you ever listen to any of the podcast... not that I do, just one or two... but the writters say they shoot around an hr of scenes for each episode and then have to compress all that down to 42 minutes... so I wouldn't write off the muted speech of Adama as intentional.

you know what? I can see this series for about 10 years and not get tired. This doesnt happend with other series out there.

And about this ep, yea, was good. Seems like the cylons didnt get yet how to manipulate the ppl like the humans do :D (they just search and destroy, instead of use them. Thats why this ep was good)

Tonight's episode put a nice spin on things... the trailer for next week's episode was almost too revealing!

The music from the radio... Tigh, Anders, Troy... all hearing the music. Then you here the question phrased in the teaser "is it true, we're all cylons?" in the plural sense... 3 of the 5 final cylons to be revealed next week?

do you mean tory?

This was a great episode, I think the best of season 3.5 so far. Quite a surprise with

Roslin's cancer returning

.

Yeah, what do you think Tigh meant by "It's coming from inside the frakking ship"?

And on that...what is the significance of that music again? I've missed episodes here and there so I'm confused as to what that is about...

That was a great episode. It was definitely refreshing among earlier episodes (last weeks and the week before were pretty good as well). The preview seems to have let on too much, as noted by Budious. I also find it very odd that they're only airing 20 episodes for this season. C'mon! They could've easily fit two to four more episodes, but alas, they'll do as they wish.

I don't think there was any previous significance of the music; the only thing I can think of is that for this episode, it's a clue as to who the final five are.

Anybody think Roslin's cancer hasn't really returned? I think she just lied on the stand to ensure that her testimony isn't invalidated and that Baltar is thrown out the nearest air lock. She's a crafty one. The real reason she's continuing to take Kamala (sp?) is so that she can continue to have visions in order to find Earth and figure out her connection to Athena, Six, and Hera, IMHO.

And, yeah, I'm thinking that the people hearing the music are Cylons, but I can't be sure, obviously, until next week. Ain't It Cool News has some MAJOR spoilers that I've been avoiding at all costs, so PLEASE don't bring those in here.

I have just started watching season 1 and 2 again. In episode 1x08 Boomer(sharon) is walking along the cylon raider they have on board thanks to star buck piloting back when she crashed on the planets surface. As boomer was walking along it she was humming that song and then says she is a cylon.

^^ what a weird thing to have as your sig, talk about being homophobic.

anyhow I though the episode was great, I am curious about the music too.

How exactly is stating that I'm not homosexual and will never support it, Homophobic? Do Homosexuals who advertise there sexuality get called Heterophobic? Your post is in accurate, I'm not homophobic in the least. I don't hate homosexuals, and certainly am not afraid of them. You are like most, bought the whole spill that homosexuals have fed our society. Wake up.

I hope it is a good episode. :)

Good catch! Interesting it being the same song!

Check out the update on http://www.scifi.com/battlestar - the preview teaser for next week has the text "Who are the final five cylons? Find out in the shocking season finale!" I would have never guessed they would expose all 5 in the same episode...

Oh man just saw the trailer...this episode is gonna rock! :D

My wife has a name for shows like that, they are called 'soap operas'. The B.Dramatica trend continues...

Maybe next week we'll find out if Blair cheated on Sonny and is having Ricardo's baby!?

    • >defenders of AI-generated artworks often claim that AI is just a tool It is not. It is the inhuman artist replacement. The human writing the prompt is the employer/manager requesting the work product of the artist -- a supervisory/descriptive job that doesn't carry with it any rights to the copyright of that work product at all. And since AI is not human itself, it can't gain copyright for anything it is asked to regurgitate or hallucinate, so it can't transfer that copyright to the employer/manager/human who asked for the output. This was all legally reaffirmed last year. So, no, while there are AI tools, AI slopware generation is NOT a "tool" in the legal definition of that word.

    • Google is opening the world's first AI museum in Los Angeles by Ivan Jenic Image via: Google Ever since AI image generators went mainstream, the debate over whether AI-generated art is real art hasn't let up. Those who don’t consider AI to be art say that if a machine does the creating and anyone can prompt it, there’s no skill involved, and therefore no art is produced. The counter-argument is equally persistent, as defenders of AI-generated artworks often claim that AI is just a tool, and that every major technological breakthrough, like the camera or the computer, was met with the same skepticism before eventually being accepted as a legitimate creative medium. Google’s position in this debate is clear. Which is no surprise, as the company is investing billions in AI infrastructure. And now, in efforts to encourage people to use its AI even more, Google is opening Dataland on June 20, which it's calling the world's first AI arts museum. Located inside The Grand LA, a Frank Gehry-designed building in Los Angeles, the museum spans 25,000 square feet. The museum is built around a collaboration with media artist Refik Anadol, who has worked with Google since 2016. The inaugural exhibition is called Machine Dreams: Rainforest, and is powered by an AI model trained on “an extensive dataset of the natural world.” It generates 1.2 billion pixels of visuals in real time and reacts to visitors dynamically. The space also generates soundscapes, real-time emotion sensing, and algorithmically produced scents. Image via: Refik Anadol Studio / Google Google says that the museum is powered by its Gemini models, which run on Google Cloud. So, everything is generated inside one of Google’s AI data centers and is streamed to the museum. Alongside the museum opening, Google Arts & Culture is funding an AI Artist Residency, giving four artists $25,000 grants each, along with mentorship from Refik Anadol Studio and access to Google's machine learning tools. Their work will be shown at Dataland and on the Google Arts & Culture website later this year. Google’s AI museum will undoubtedly initiate a fired-up debate on social media, and we can’t wait to see the first reactions. Via: Smithsonian Magazine
    • Calling GTA 6 overhyped crap doesn’t make you edgy, it just makes you sound like someone who hasn’t enjoyed anything since the PS2 era.
    • I’m not arguing whether Rockstar likes money. Obviously, they do, they’re a business. I’m saying this isn’t new. They’ve always launched console first. This is just how Rockstar operates.
