Besides the usual stuff (adblock plus, noscript) etc etc.. Here's one which i think is important for security/privacy

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4429

"A login extension similar to Opera's Wand login.

It uses the built-in password manager, but deactivates the prefilling of login forms.

Instead, you are now able to login with one click or a keyboard shortcut (ALT+N - changeable via settings).

Just add the Secure Login toolbar button to your toolbar, or use the provided statusbar icon.

If you hover over one of the icons, a tooltip is shown, displaying the login url and the number of available logins (users).

For more than one user or login forms on the current page a selection prompt is displayed on login.

You have the option to play sound notifications (*.wav) for found login data on the current page or when logging in.

All the options can be changed using the Secure Login settings page. The settings page can be opened via the Secure Login tools menu, the Secure Login statusbar icon context menu or via the list of installed extensions.

Secure Login provides you with a number of Security enhancements and helps protecting you from phishing:

Disabling the prefilling of login forms prevents malicious JavaScript code to automatically steal your login data.

This is due to the fact that no login data is inserted in form fields before the user clicks on the login button or logs in using the keyboard shortcut.

To make sure you login to the right website, the second level domain of the login url is compared to the second level domain of the current page.

If they do not match a dialog prompt is displayed before login.

Secure Login provides you with an optional setting to protect you from all JavaScript code during login.

This can prevent cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks without having to deactivate JavaScript completely.

If you enable this option, your login data will never be inserted in any form fields nor will the login form be submitted.

Instead your credentials will be sent to the login page using internal Firefox methods.

Not all login forms will work this way, e.g. not those using JavaScript routines. Therefore, you can add such websites to an exception list."

Given the recent concern over firefox's password manager, this little extension bypasses some of the problems

I wouldn't recommend these to everyone because it comes down to what you need and want.

What I use:

Greasemonkey

IETab

Stealther

TrackMeNot

VideoDownloader

I use to use session saver but now if I'm going out I either bookmark all tabs or kill the firefox process so it thinks it crashed and restores my session at next open :D

well so far all i pretty much use is...

-NoScript (main flaw with this is it requires configuring but it's quick to configure on a per site basis. but for average joe this probably aint for them since it's probably a little to technical... although this would offer extra protection from malicious activity)

-AD Block Plus (this is pretty much a must for people who dont like popups/ads etc)

-TabScroller (to sum it up it can be configured to hold down right mouse button and the scroll with mouse to switch tabs :), takes a while to get used to be saves time if you tend to have many tabs open.)

Theme:

Vista Black 1.0

Extensions:

Fasterfox

FoxyTunes

FoxyTunes SKin - OnyxOrbs

ForecastfoxI10n

IE Tab

IE View

Informational Tab

Don't mean to be a stickler but doesn't this setting handle this without the need for force quit?

I'm in the process of slimming my addon usage down in transition to Firefox 3b2 and spreading it across a couple of profiles, like one for web development and the other for general surfing.

    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article?
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.171 changelog: General Fixed Cardano not being disabled on upgrade to Brave Origin. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103. Origin Removed “Survey Panelist” setting from brave://settings/privacy. Fixed P3A and usage ping under brave://settings/privacy being displayed on first launch on Linux. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
