Ok

Here is the ultimate wierdness.

Vista Ultimate x64 RTM - legal version

IE , opera and Microsoft Outlook have suddenly stop accessing the internet.

the x64 version of IE still works, My power radio in the sidebar still works.

System shows no driver conflict. Detect and repair showed no problems.

I reinstalled Opera and now it will not even load.

Evertime I close IE and outlook and opera I would get a message program not working. The only thing I did was install the Nvidia driver update. This update really su**ed, I rolled back to a prior date but nothing. I am baffled.

x64 works fine. No problem Any ideas out there????

Do you have an nForce board with two NICs? If so, have you tried the other one? I've had issues in the past with the Nvidia NICs on certain boards, although I'm using one right now and it's been fine.

I tried nthe 2nd nic

Same thing. Why would IE 64 work and not IE or Outlook?

Could somebe screwed up with DCHP?

Lol i've got Vista running on my 415MB SDRam machine and it runs way better and way faster than WinXP!

All my hardware recognized by default, startup is fast, all software works perfect (don't use Nero though)...

Are you sure you don't just have it set to open windows in separate processes? (I keep it like that so that when something like divx crashes explorer, Nothing else closes other than the one window.)

Agreed, I always do this. I hate explorer crashing all my windows. Great feature this was! :)

Can't say i've noticed too many Vista bugs. I've had driver issues galore, but hey...

I can print to my printers on the LAN network

I can access the internet with Vista IE 64 bit.

It seems like every 32 bit application can no longer access the internet.

My power radio in the sidebar can access the internet.

Hey all, over the holidays I built a new computer (specs below). I installed Vista RTM on it but did not activate it in case I did not like the motherboard or video card or whatever, this way I did not have to worry about the activation process after changing a major piece of my system. Yes this is a valid RTM copy and key that I got from the beta testing. (Thanks Microsoft). Anyway the RTM version has been nothing but hell. I can not install any Nvidia drivers except for the 97.12 version which is kind of old. When i try to start the nvidia control panel I get the "you do not have admin rights" pop up and then the panel starts but all of the icons and the information is blank. I have installed Doom, Quake 4 and Fear but none of them work. They all give me the BSOD. I do not have AERO capability or flip 3d.

Could all this be because I did not activate Vista, all the programs above worked fine in the last beta release?. Another point..I installed another hard drive with XP and the system kicks butt. Any help will be much appreciated. I am inthe process of installing the last beta build to see how things run.

Has anyone had a recurring bug where if you clikcon a link outside of internet explorer which is inteneded to open upIE with a webpage, for example goto the About option of most programs and click on the website link, 199% of the time i get Inter explorer has stopped working. What fixes it 60% of the time is having IE open already before clicking the link, but this doesn't always work...anyone else got this problem?

Your cards not supported by Vista yet.

Well was forced to reinstall everything. I am now creating an off line backup copy of Vista. At least I will be able to restore to a copy one week old.

Everyting I tried did not work. I tried to update the existing install. Vista came back with install errors and rolled back.

Startup repair did not work.

I did not have a back up copy. Soooo........ screwed again. Everyone may want to really think about adding this to their setup.

Your cards not supported by Vista yet.

Serious?! The first DX10 cards aren't supported by the only platform which supports DX10. How ridiculous; almost as bad as the Zune DRM messup.

Was thinking of getting a couple of them too!!! :(

Chris

Here is one good bug I found in RTM

recycleyt1.jpg

When you try to empty the recycle bin, it will empty but the image will not change. I tried creating new profiles which will work correctly for a little while and then begin to do the same thing.

Another bug, is that I cleared my thumbnail cache for all my videos, and now it won"t re-create them no mattter which settings i choose. go figure.

"Good bug"

No bugs are good :p

Hopefully I won't have these issues; I'm about to make the switch...wish me luck!

I've got a bug in the 32-bit version of Vista Ultimate where when I stick in an SD card and then run Media Center, I see some graphics corruption in the form of faint lines running diagonally across the screen. I don't know if it's just ATI's beta drivers but I just wanted to see if anyone else had the problem.

My hardware:

HP dv4000 CTO Laptop (Purchased Dec 2005)

Intel Pentium M Processor 1.6Ghz pinmodded to 2.13Ghz

1280MB DDR2 533Mhz RAM

ATI Mobility Radeon x700 128MB

ATI Beta drivers

Fresh install of Vista Ultimate

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but for some reason my 'Documents' folder keeps doubling up. I have one on my desktop and under my profile folder (Where the video and music folders are).

Anyone else had the same problem??

I dont think IE has ever crashed for me, do you have any tools bars installed? if so get rid of them and see if it helps. I also heard if you dont have the latest version flash player installed that can cause problems, so try installing that if you dont have it allready.

That also happens in xp ;) just make a new folder, delete it and its all fixed for a while.

I can confirm that I'm also having issues with Favorite Links and Games Explorer.

I used that thing to remove the shortcut arror from shortcuts, after adding the shortcut arrow back both thise problems were fixed for me.

Yes i have this problem.. i dont think its anything to do with having an SD card in or not.

If i start media center in a window then go to full screen i get the grapics corruption you do, if i then quit media center and load it up in full screen again its fine untill i make it go to a window then i get the grapics corruption again.

I also have an Mobility X700 card

If you re start your computer do they work again? it could be a network driver bug as sometime i can just be on the net but no webpage will load and i carnt check my email in outlook but i can still talk on msn... but if i sign out of msn i carnt sign back in untill i re start.

Regarding missing Favorites links...

Did you delete the "Links" folder in your user directory? That's what is displayed in the "Favorites" pane.

Nope i didnt, i found out using the Vista shortcut arrow remover cause the problem.

I dont think they are any drivers for the 8800 GTX yet, everything should be fine when the final Nvidia drivers are released.

When I changed from default font size 96dpi to large font size 120dpi, vista would freeze up after (the required) reboot. Changing font size back in safe mode would not fix it. Had to do a reinstall of vista. Maybe ATI drivers could be the problem. Feel free to try.

Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better.
