Meta Puzzle Finale--Bring All Clues!

What, Is, My, Name

W..... I.. Minae Noji

Could it not be that she is refering to her real name, 'cus the other one is just Loki. On her Myspace site she mentions about her nem and it is at least 3 if not 4 words..

She has never said that this is the last puzzul has she.... They could be stretching this until the end og feb for the release of the AMD quad chip.....

Although I doubt it since the winners name should be engraved in the chip. Another thing is how will they choose all the other winners and how can we be sure that the right person wins. Surely there are at least hundreds if not thousands that have been working on this and I am sure that more then just a few are here for the prizes... I am sorry about this but it bothers me

The bulk of the prizes will be drawn at random.

You may have noticed you accumulate points each time you solve one of the 48 puzzles. Well, each point gives you an entry into the sweepstakes, where hundreds of prizewinners will be chosen at random.

The "What is my name" challenge is only to get your name engraved on the AMD chip.

Here's my guess based on previous anagrams, puzzle parts and ideas that all of you have supplied -

Remembering the Rabbit puzzle was Presto, lead to someone saying Change-O

change an "o" to an "d" in "Odessa Oblast" = last dos based

I'm betting the answer is "Last Dos Based Windows", which is vanishing with the introduction of Vista.

That would be truly maddening if the answer was "What is Minae Noji"

I did the run from the TANLI Waypoint and ended up in Saudi Arabia quite N of Medina (not Giza, Egypt), but the pattern looked like an arm and a hand pointing to Japan. From the party site in Seattle it ended up in Nebraska.

We need to all be on the same page as far as the spec directions...I have=Mystery Spot R=E 5874.61 miles, U=N 1049.62 miles, R=E 1161.79 miles, D=S 153.48 miles, L=W 543.55 miles, D=S 652.20 miles, L=W 4909.96 miles, D=S 548.42 miles, (L=W unknown....from the very last video LOKI #4). Physical presence not required would point to Isis if the end point was Giza though as she's there everywhere in Giza, just not physically. I took it that we need not travel there.

On the other one...If you viewed the actual rules, this is a sweepstakes, not a contest...If you solved all the puzzles, you have an even chance of winning all the other prizes by drawing including the grand prize (that doesn't explain the extra site referral points though). There is only 1 winner of this AMD chip prize...The 1st to answer the question..."what, is, my, name"

By now, I'm certain that many others have come to the same conclusion that I have:

Lorelei (murmuring rock, Loki, all that stuff from the pregame)

Odessa (Odessa Obelast Coat of Arms)

Kara (from Hex 6B6171261 after solving the crossword from more_answers)

Inari (Inari, Japan, where you get to from TanLi, China--mainland, where the legend of the Seven Brothers comes from)

So that's my best guess, unless someone can come up with a program L.O.K.I.--in the great tradition of D.A.R.R.Y.L., W.O.P.R., H.A.L., and all those other great sci-fi flicks.... you can post here if you find one :D

Thanks for the fun time, everybody! I personally think that whoever wins should request that AMD carve "Neowin.net" on the chip, too!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Good job cousinIT! Methinks you got it Bro., I came to the same conclusion after running the gauntlet from Tanli, China and the wiki page relates Inari to Kitsuni. The one thing not mentioned in the 4 Loki vid was the Folklore link the other 3 majors were mentioned.

Hey all;

I?m just a lurker trying to add something.

Regarding the discussion surrounding where the mystery spot is for the beginning of the /roamingroaming puzzle, I thought I would add this;

I've been contemplating the clues in the videos.

If you noticed back at the beginning the first box's bonus video took us to a site that indicated that we are looking for a word not a name. We have been thinking too much into this. There is only one clue per video for the Meta Puzzle. In the first one it was her GPA. The second one it was the professor climbing in through the window and the third one was her 21st birthday. 3.1416 was the final version of the original windows. Windows is obvious. But her 21st birthday threw me for a second. Windows was originally released on November 1985 Vista was released November 2006(Business side). For those that don't see this when she talked about her birthday she stated, "On my 21st birthday I visited almost every country in the world." Either she was super woman to fly around the world in a day or she was a program delivered to different countries. Also LOKI was the name of a database program with Microsoft. Let me know what you guys think.

Birddawg

I think Birddawg has the right idea. With this contest really being about Windows Vista, someone may want to try this as the starting point; "Longhorn Windows Vista Went golden (RTM) on 8 of November 2006. Named after the Longhorn Bar in the Whistler-Blackcomb resort; initially planned as an "interim release" between "Whistler" and "Blackcomb" (which is now "Vienna")."

Longhorn

4290 Mountain Square RR 4

Whistler, BC V0N 1B4, Canada

(604) 938-1141

I really commend the idea put forward of "Team Neowin" being on the Chip as this whole thing has been a great collaboration of some very talented people. You all Rock! If someone wins from here, you should give it consideration.

I'll also add; "What, IS, my, name" and not "What, ARE, my, names."

Good luck everyone in the drawing.

Since we are all telling how we got our answers, here is mine...may help.

Pi has to have something to do with this. So, as in Pi Constant, i find the latin word leaning to Constantine as in Constantine, Algeria.

In doing the directions i ended up near Jerusalem, Israel.

Well i've changed my answer a bunch and atleast Israel is a name.

Inari seems to have more relevance, but i just can't find a way to relate it to Pi or anything for that matter. Eh, to much fun!

I hope atleast someone from Neowin gets it.

Rock ON!

That's gotta be it. I tried following the directions from Fremont Studios, and ended up near Flint, Michigan. Then I tried the directions from the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz and ended up somewhere on the Mississippi/Alabama border. And no towns that start with "I" to be seen.

Where on the boarder? South MS?

Where on the boarder? South MS?

IUKA Mississippi is right near the border of Mississippi and Alabama...Northern Mississippi in Tishomingo county I believe...

Anybody notice the /roamingroaming page now lists the first location as "Mystery Spot, CA". This sure seems like the Mystery Spot near Santa Cruz mentioned a few posts back. http://www.mysteryspot.com/

That should mean that still noone post the right answer...

So when I run the mileage stating at Mystery Spot, CA near Santa Cruz, I end at the Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant in Texas. Interesting.

It is definitely in Texas....

If you draw out the Right, Up, Right, Down, Left, Down, Left, Down you will see you make a box and then another incomplete box...

anyway...I added the Rights, LEfts, Downs, and Ups together..

R=7036.4

L=5453.51

U=1049.62

D=1457.88

If you go Right 7036.4 then back left 5453.51 you are actually 1582.89 RIGHT of the starting point

Same goes for Up and down: Up 1049.62 then down 1457.88 you are actually DOWN 408.26 from the starting point

Draw a line RIGHT then DOWN....hmm...triangle? Compute the hypotenuse....

you get 1634.69 miles from the starting point (Mystery Spot, CA...Santa Cruz..)....which the closest "I" town name in Texas to that mark is INGRAM, texas.

The TANLI is an anagram for LATIN....Texas has lots of Latin culture!

I chose INGRAM as the I name for my submission!

Edited by Interface7

Well, I finally made my guess. It has likely already been chosen, but one can hope.

My names are:

Lorelei

Odessa

Kara

Ignatia

The reason I chose Ignatia is because of the following.

Lorelei - Earth

Odessa - Water

Kara - Sky

Ignatia - Fire

And a few other reasons. Good luck everyone.

here is the name of every city in Texas that starts with the letter "I"

Idalou, TX

Imperial, TX

Industry, TX

Inez, TX

Ingleside, TX

Ingram, TX

Iola, TX

Iowa Park, TX

Ira, TX

Iraan, TX

Iredell, TX

Irene, TX

Irving, TX

Italy, TX

Itasca, TX

Ivanhoe, TX

http://www.theus50.com/texas/cities.php

I ended up in Odessa, TX. The closest town I could find starting with the letter I is Imperial, so I used a latin name finder to come up with Imperia. I think Imogene might be right though; it's a latin girl's name as well, and it means image, so it sure would sound right to me.

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12.
