Any thoughts on measuring Due EAST on a flat map? Obviously it isn't a straight line from the location, because of the curve of the Earth. This will make a BIG difference in our end point.

Somebody check my measurements out - I was using a line drawing tool...

Mystery Spot

Seville (in Spain)

Riverchapel (Ireland)

Wyszekow

Czajkowa

Hirzenhain

Luras (maybe Calangianus)

New London

Kilbourne

For the first direction I get to Madeira Islands area by maintaining my line of latitude, and to Tangier Moroco area if it is a great circle route to a point at the same lat. Of course it could be naughtical miles that they are after, given the reference to the Ukrainian navy.

Bottom line is: After all the going all those miles back and forth and up and down...you end up going:

EAST (right): 1,582.89; then you go

SOUTH (down): 304.48

Those are the EXACT coordinates. Anyone has a nice map? :)

HINT: Remember, im sure they dont want us to use GOOGLE or MAPQUEST. Remember, MICROSOFT has a thing called LIVE MAPS...hmm...lol maybe we should use those!

Just thought I should mention that converting miles to degrees only works at the equator - doing it anywhere else will need a different conversion rate.

And I agree - they probably tried it out on Live Maps, so they want us to do the same :p

True...but the location I believe is correct is lower than drawing a straight line East and the straight line South.

In other words...is due East higher or lower than a straight line on a flat map?

That would make all the difference. I already submitted my guess, but I need to know if my intuitive leap of aiming lower that straight East was correct in order to go Due East/Right.

I tried the "direct rout" of 1582.89 E and 304.48 W from "Mystery Spot" and got the middle of no ware in Louisiana (I am using the tool in Windows Live Maps). Then I tried from the AMD building in CA where we got her voice mail from. Not much of a difference but I did hit right on a point in Sparta LA on Old Sparta Road that coincides with Old Sparta Cemetary. In looking up Info on Sparta LA I find a couple of things. First is this copy from a page on the cemetary "Once the parish seat of Bienville Parish, Sparta was a thriving town with its own courthouse, newspaper, etc. There is no trace of it now except for the cemetery." from http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/la/bi...es/olsparta.txt . (Interesting a ghost town that disapeared). I also found out that it is smack dab in the middle of the Sparta Aquifer project that they are trying to save. My map may be way off and this could be just a whold bunch of nothing but I thought I would post it anyway.

Hey Agentleman, where do you submit the answeres???

QUICK OBSERVATIONAL HINT***:

Note how SPECIFIC the milage is. No matter of the curvature of the earth. From the exact location of Mystery Spot, there is only ONE place it can possibly be ...EXACTLY 1,582.89. If the curvature were to move it up or down, it would no longer be the same exact number. CONCUR? Same with the other number: 304.48...so with the right tool (LiveMaps, probably), we should DEFINETLY be looking at one little town with an exact name, and try to link it to TANLI or LATIN

Think back to all the puzzles. Most of the time when you solved one, they never gave you the answer right away, you ALWAYS had to go the extra step to find the answer. This is the same. Once you get the town (city, village, etc.), you need to link it to LATIN (TANLI) and THAT will be the answer...

ANY THOUGHTS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN???

Help?

I'm missing just Music Charts. When I type in "Buenos Aires" the word "OTHER" pops up on the bar where my name is and does not accept the answer. Any clues?

try without capital letters

I have a big US map here. I reduced the mileage down to inches on the map.

EAST (right): 1,582.89; St. Louis, MO

SOUTH (down): 304.48 is this confirmed? {I used another calulation (approx 408)} Centreville, MS as the southern point.

Second theory...

Though, through rough (eyeball) estimates (on google maps, live maps, and Mapquest. I eztimated the eastern point to be: Midway, CO. The southern point to be Odessa Tx. If this is the case, I found the opposite vanishing point of Mystery, CA to be a Sophia, WV. (name coming from greek sophos, or wisdom. ex. philosophy) I'm riding with that name one until I see otherwise ... as the only answer. I'm not convinced that we need 4 names, 4 names + last name. I think have to name WHAT Loki-v is not the 4 characters in the story line.

Actually, 1582.89 is the same distance if you go straight east or if you go at a slight angle to account for the curvature of the Earth. No change, just as when you extend your arm and then lower it at a slight angle, it is the same length. The question is whether to go Right/East you need to use that difference of angle or not. If you do, then the down distance (which is also a constant), will take you to a lower location on the map.

I've tried all versions:

Buenos Aires

buenos aires

bue?os aires

BUENOS AIRES

I get the same result. It's my last puzzle. I know that the answer is right. This is so frustrating.

Try with a different browser (if you have one). it worked for me a couple of times

The lokiv page.

Pardon me, but perhaps im an idiot who'se really behind. Which is the Lokiv page??? You have the link?

EDIT: Disregard, got it! :) ..My comp. at work is kinda messed up. So im going to go home and do all the puzzles there :) THANKS ANYWAYS. We shall proceed brainstorming this crazy japanese woman's tricks TOMORROW:)

P.S. She's looking much better now. Not so hot in Memoirs of Geisha, lol

It really depends if you use Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates or not to do

your calculations, remember that longitude and latitude are "angular" coordinates.

Cheers

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
